Introduction: Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD) is a complex clinical condition characterized by inadequate response to conventional antidepressant treatments. There is growing evidence that microRNAs (miRNAs) play a role in the underlying pathophysiology of TRD and may offer new avenues for diagnostics and therapy.
Methods: A structured literature review of peer-reviewed publications indexed in PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science was conducted.

Background: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is the current gold standard for the management of acute cholecystitis, where ultrasonic dissection and electrocautery dissection are the two primary techniques used, however, it remains uncertain which approach is safer and more effective.
Objectives: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to compare the clinical outcomes of ultrasonic dissection versus electrocautery dissection in LC for acute cholecystitis, particularly in operative time, hospital stay, blood loss, intraoperative and postoperative complications.
Method: A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed (MEDLINE), Scopus, Web of Science (WOS), EMBASE, and Cochrane CENTRAL up to January 7, 2025, following PRISMA guidelines.

Exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) is a crucial public health strategy that reduces infant morbidity and mortality, yet rates remain suboptimal among refugee populations. This study examines breastfeeding practices and determinants of EBF among long-standing Palestinian refugees in Jordan through a cross-sectional survey of 249 mothers at the UNRWA Zarqa Camp Health Center. The prevalence of EBF among infants under 6 months was 38.

Unregulated epigenetic modifications, including histone acetylation/deacetylation mediated by histone acetyltransferases (HATs) and histone deacetylases (HDACs), contribute to cancer progression. HDACs, often overexpressed in cancer, downregulate tumor suppressor genes, making them crucial targets for treatment. This work aimed to develop non-hydroxamate benzoic acid-based HDAC inhibitors (HDACi) with comparable effect to the currently four FDA-approved HDACi, which are known for their poor solubility, poor distribution, and significant side effects.

Background: Cytomegalovirus (CMV) colitis is commonly seen in patients who are immunodeficient or have inflammatory bowel disease. Among the gastrointestinal sites affected by CMV, the colon is the most frequently affected, though rectal involvement is relatively rare. Reactivated CMV proctitis primarily occurs in elderly patients with comorbidities and is quite uncommon in immunocompetent individuals.

The gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in developing colorectal cancer (CRC) through interactions with host immunity, metabolism, and inflammation. However, microbiome-based studies remain scarce in Middle Eastern populations, limiting regional insights into microbial signatures associated with CRC. This study aimed to characterize the gut microbiota profiles of Jordanian CRC patients using 16S rRNA gene sequencing and compare them to those of healthy controls from the GutFeeling KnowledgeBase (GutFeelingKB).

Studying the morphological changes in dendrites and dendritic spines during the early postnatal period is essential for unraveling the development of neural circuits and synaptic connectivity. Structural alterations in the dendritic arborization and spine morphology of medium spiny neurons (MSNs) have been closely linked to various neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs). While Golgi-Cox staining remains a powerful technique for visualizing individual neurons, existing protocols are predominantly optimized for adult rodent brains only.

Objectives: Bacterial-derived secondary caries is a primary cause of dental treatment failure at the artificial material-tissue interface. We previously developed ultra-long-term antimicrobial/antidegradative drug-silica particles (DSPs) to counter this interfacial failure. The aim of the current study was to evaluate a novel DSP-filled-adhesive system via in vitro and in vivo (rat) anti-secondary-caries studies.

Background: Clinical learning environments (CLEs) play a vital role in shaping nursing students' competencies, yet their dynamics in conflict-affected settings remain underexplored. This study investigated how CLE factors, measured via the Clinical Learning Environment, Supervision and Nurse Teacher (CLES+T) scale, relate to students' clinical learning (CL) experiences across West Bank universities in Palestine. The findings are specific to the Palestinian context but may offer insights for other conflict-affected educational settings.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) presents ongoing clinical challenges, often leading to relapse in many patients. The relapse is partly explained by tumor cells transitioning into a senescent state following chemotherapy or radiation, resulting in a more aggressive phenotype, contributing to disease recurrence. Consequently, combining senolytics with traditional treatments could be a viable and promising strategy in treating TNBC.

The supramolecular host-guest interaction between heteroleptic iridium(iii) complexes and cucurbit[10]uril (Q[10]) in an aqueous medium was investigated in this work. Both studied iridium complexes, [Ir(ppy)(bpy-(CHO))] (complex 1) and [Ir(ppy)(bpy-(COOH))] (complex 2), possessed two phenylpyridine ligands and a single R-bipyridine ligand. The formation of the encapsulated species (Q[10]·1 and Q[10]·2) was demonstrated by H NMR and luminescence studies.

Objective: Studies have reported a lower incidence of postpartum depression, anxiety, and perceived stress among exclusive breastfeeding mothers compared to non-exclusive and formula-feeding mothers. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the protective action of exclusive breastfeeding against these mental disorders remain unclear. This study examined the differences between exclusive and non-exclusive breastfeeding mothers in terms of postpartum depression, anxiety, and perceived stress, measured subjectively and objectively (based on cortisol, immunoglobulin A, and ghrelin saliva levels).

Optimal energy management of distributed generation and storage systems in microgrids plays a critical role in minimizing operational costs, reducing environmental emissions, improving power quality, and enhancing system reliability. Achieving these objectives requires comprehensive modeling of all microgrid components, including load profiles, generation sources, and the network structure. In recent years, metaheuristic optimization techniques have gained significant traction due to their flexibility and robustness in handling complex, nonlinear, and multi-objective problems without the need for initial estimations.
