Cellulose is the most abundant component of plant litter, which is critical for terrestrial carbon cycling. Nonetheless, it remains unknown how global warming affects cellulose-decomposing microorganisms. Here, we carried out a 3-year litterbag experiment to examine cellulose decomposition undergoing +3°C warming in a tallgrass prairie. Most cellulose-associated bacteria and fungi in litterbags were also detected in bulk soil, and bacteria in litterbags had higher community-level copy numbers, larger genome sizes, and higher genome guanine-cytosine (GC) contents than those in bulk soil, implying higher growth rates. Warming stimulated soil respiration by 32.3% and accelerated mass loss of cellulose, concurring with the increase in relative abundances of most functional genes associated with carbon decomposition in litterbags. Incorporating cellulose-decomposing genes into an ecosystem model reduced model parameter uncertainty and showed that warming stimulated microbial biomass, activity, and soil carbon decomposition. Collectively, our study supports a trait-centric view since cellulose-decomposing genes or genomic traits are amenable for ecosystem modeling. By characterizing the phylogenetically diverse yet functionally similar cellulose-associated microorganisms and their responses to warming, we take a step toward more precise predictions of soil carbon dynamics under future climate scenarios.

Addressing the issues of slow decomposition and low nutrient release efficiency associated with traditional straw returning, this study innovatively applied ultrasound-assisted centrifugal separation technology to prepare submicron/nano-straw particles and systematically conducted a multi-scale investigation from microscopic to macroscopic levels. The core finding reveals that when the particle size reaches the 1 μm threshold, ultrasonic cavitation vigorously disrupts the straw structure, leading to efficient lignin removal (77.45 %) and a significant reduction in cellulose crystallinity, thereby fundamentally enhancing the degradation rate.

Burning rice straw contribute to Atmospheric Pollution, which makes it unsustainable in the long-run, but are still opted by farmers due to faster removal of residue. Lignocellulose Degrading Microorganisms, facilitating sustainable management, may accelerate the breakdown of various crop residues. A study comprised of twenty-one treatments including fungal strains, bacterial strains and microbial consortia.

Sulforaphene (SFE) is a bioactive isothiocyanate, known for its cancer-preventive, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. However, the application of SFE is severely limited by its poor stability. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), an amphiphilic carbohydrate polymer, has potentials to enhance the stability of SFE and the loading capacity.

Objective: This research aimed to investigate the compatibility of the Ketoconazole-Adipic Acid (KTZ-AA) co-crystal, which exhibits an improved dissolution profile over pure Ketoconazole, with various solid pharmaceutical excipients, as well as its in silico antifungal potential.
Methods: Binary physical mixtures (1:1 w/w) of KTZ-AA co-crystal and excipients were analyzed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). The molecular docking study targeting the sterol 14α-demethylase (CYP51) enzyme of the pathogenic yeast Candida albicans was performed.

Senesced bark litter of collected from pure plantation was placed in four stand types, including pure plantation (control), - mixed plantation (-), - mixed plantation (-), and -- mixed plantation (--). During a 540-day decomposition period, litterbags were retrieved every 60 days to measure remaining dry mass and the contents of carbon (C), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), cellulose, and lignin. We analyzed decomposition characteristics, home-field advantage (HFA), nutrient release, and key drivers in mixed plantations.
