Article Abstract

A novel poly(dibenzofuran isatin) (PBFI) with π conjugated structure was synthesized. Through the facile ring-opening reaction, flexible and hydrophilic side chains with hydroxyl and quaternary ammounium groups were grafted into PBFI. Obtained PBFI-%GTA membranes with twisted polymer structure and multiple hydrogen bonding sites displayed high HT-PEMFC performance.

Synthetic cathinones (SCs) are drugs of abuse that act on the central nervous system, producing psychoactive effects similar to those of amphetamines. Their greater accessibility compared with the traditional amphetamine-type stimulants has contributed to their increasing popularity in recent years. The analysis of SCs in biological samples is essential for documenting their consumption.

Conductive hydrogels have revolutionized wearable electronics due to their biocompatibility and tunable properties. However, it remains a great challenge for hydrogel-based sensors to maintain both conductivity and mechanical integrity in harsh environments. Synergistic dynamic interactions provide a promising strategy to address this issue.

Biochemical characterization of a flavodiiron protein from bird parasite Histomonas meleagridis: superoxide as a reaction intermediate.

J Biol Chem

Laboratory of Redox Biology and Metabolism, Scintillon Institute, San Diego, CA; Department of Chemistry, The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA, USA. Electronic address:

Histomonas meleagridis is a parasitic protozoan which causes histomoniasis (blackhead disease) in a wide range of birds, including domesticated chickens and turkeys, representing a significant health problem in avian veterinary medicine. Despite being classified as an anaerobic parasite, H. meleagridis can survive transient exposure to oxygen while little is known about the mechanisms that allow this organism to cope with exposure to varying oxygen levels.

Nanoparticles bind to proteins in cells selectively and form a protein corona around them. However, the mechanisms of protein conformational changes underlying the interactions between nanoparticles and protein coronas remain poorly understood. In this study, we prepared small molecule self-assembled nanoparticles (Aloin NPs) as a research tool to investigate the allosteric mechanism of protein coronas.

Foam dust suppressant based on synergistic coordination between oxidized starch-gelatin Schiff base reaction and multiple crosslinking.

Carbohydr Polym

November 2025

College of Safety and Environmental Engineering, Shandong University of Science and Technology, Qingdao 266590, China; State Key Laboratory of Mining Disaster Prevention and Control Co-founded by Shandong Province and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Shandong University of Science and Technol

Aiming at the problems such as large dust in each production process of open-pit mines, insufficient water resistance of the curing layer of dust control materials, and poor mechanical strength, this research applied the network generated by Schiff base reaction between oxidized starch (OS) and gelatin (GEL) as the basis, and combined with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and calcium chloride (CaCl). This material improves the problem of poor dust suppression effect caused by the environment of open-pit coal mines. It was found that the large number of amino groups contained in GEL attack the carbon atoms in the carbonyl group of OS to form carbon-nitrogen double bonds, generating Schiff bases as the crosslinking network, which enhanced the water resistance of the polymers.
