Article Abstract

A thin-layer source for the counting of polonium isotopes by alpha spectrometry can be rapidly prepared using microprecipitation with tellurium. Polonium was first coprecipitated with the reduction of tellurium by stannous chloride, followed by microfiltration onto a membrane filter for counting. This microprecipitation method is faster, cheaper, and more convenient than the traditional spontaneous deposition method, with an excellent Po recovery (>90%) under optimal conditions. The influences of several experimental parameters, including Te(IV) quantity, reaction time, and HCl molarity, were examined to determine the optimal conditions for Te microprecipitation. The decontamination factors of potential interferences from various radionuclides (Ra, Th, U, Pu, Am) for the counting of long-lived polonium isotopes (Po, Po, and Po) were also evaluated, and the results confirmed a good selectivity on polonium by this microprecipitation method. Due to its strong resistance to high acidity up to 12 M HCl, the method would be particularly suitable for rapid determination of Po in acid leaching solution of solid samples.

Background: The progressive legalization and widespread use of cannabis has led to its use as a treatment for certain neuropsychiatric disorders. Traditional epidemiological studies suggest that cannabis use has an effect on some neurocognitive aspects. However, it is unclear whether cannabis use is causally related to common neuropsychiatric disorders.

Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a multifaceted neurodevelopmental disorder marked by impaired interactions and restricted interests, the pathophysiology of which is not fully understood. The current study explored the potential therapeutic effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on the neurophysiological aspects of ASD, specifically focusing on the brain's excitatory/inhibitory (E/I) balance and behavioral outcomes, providing scientific guidance for ASD intervention.

Methods: Forty-two children with ASD were randomly divided into either an active tDCS or sham tDCS group.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: The high mortality rate associated with severe influenza partly results from delayed initiation of antiviral therapy and subsequent cytokine storms. Jiuwei Qianghuo Decoction combined with Zhuye Shigao Decoction (JZF) has been clinically prescribed to prevent the progression to a more severe illness in influenza treatment. However, the precise mode of action and active components have not yet been elucidated.

Aims/hypothesis: Alpha cell dysregulation is an integral part of type 2 diabetes pathophysiology, increasing fasting as well as postprandial glucose concentrations. Alpha cell dysregulation occurs in tandem with the development of insulin resistance and changes in beta cell function. Our aim was to investigate, using mathematical modelling, the role of alpha cell dysregulation in beta cell compensatory insulin secretion and subsequent failure in the progression from normoglycaemia to type 2 diabetes defined by ADA criteria.

Goat milk is prized for its nutritional value, but the illegal addition of δ-decanolactone to enhance flavor poses risks to product integrity and safety. This study employed a tripartite multi-omics framework integrating metabolomics, lipidomics, and proteomics, combined with FTIR and CLSM to systematically elucidate the multifaceted effects of δ-decanolactone on goat milk. Chemometric and bioinformatic pipelines identified dysregulated molecules and pathways, while molecular docking validated interactions with key targets.
