RNA mA methylation, as the most prevalent modification in mRNA, is a dynamic and reversible process primarily regulated by mA methyltransferases ("writers"), mA demethylases ("erasers"), and mA recognition proteins ("readers"). It has been shown that N6-methyladenosine (mA) plays a pivotal role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In this study we investigated the contribution of the mA eraser AlkB homolog 5 (ALKBH5) to hepatocarcinogenesis, particularly during the early stages of liver cancer development.

The color of carrot taproots is mainly determined by the types and contents of carotenoids and anthocyanins. Consistency in taproot color from the outside to the inside is an important indicator of carrot quality. However, most carrot cultivars exhibit inconsistency in taproot color across these tissues.

Developing asymmetric heteronuclear dual-atom catalysts (DACs) through coordination microenvironment regulation and investigating their structure-activity relationship for the catalytic oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) are crucial for energy conversion and storage devices such as zinc-air batteries (ZABs). In this work, a novel catalyst with its Fe and Zn diatomic sites atomically dispersed on nitrogen-doped hierarchical porous carbon (FeZn-NC-800) was designed and synthesized under a cyanamide-assisted sintering atmosphere to stabilize Zn single atoms in the structure. Benefiting from specific synergy between the Fe and Zn atoms and the hierarchical porous carbon substrate, the obtained FeZn-NC-800 catalyst exhibits remarkable ORR performance with a positive half-wave potential of 0.

Adaptiveness is an important feature for biological creatures to survive and interact with variable environments. Mechanically adaptive polymers (MAPs), which have been developed recently inspired by this adaptive nature, can regulate their mechanical properties in response to external stimuli or environmental changes. Specifically, MAPs based on dynamic chemical bonds have been synthesized and reported as an emerging material because of the intrinsic self-adaptability, outstanding mechanical properties and durable applications.

Physical vapor deposition (PVD) at an appropriate temperature has been shown to produce ultrastable glass by the mechanism of surface accelerated diffusion. Recently, high-entropy materials have been discovered to display slower atomic diffusion due to the multicomponent high-entropy effects. How this delayed atomic motion influences the formation and stability of PVD glass remains elusive.

Drought dramatically affects plant growth and yield. A previous study indicated that endophytic fungus can improve the drought resistance of peanuts, which is related with the root arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) community; however, how root endophytes mediate AMF assembly to affect plant drought resistance remains unclear. Here, we explored the mechanism by which endophytic fungus recruits AMF symbiotic partners via rhizodeposits to improve host drought resistance.

Developing high active and stable cost-effective bifunctional electrocatalysts for overall water splitting to produce hydrogen is of vital significance in clean and sustainable energy development. This work has prepared a novel porous unreported MOF (Ni-DPT) as a precursor to successfully synthesize a non-noble bifunctional NiCoP/NiP@NF electrocatalyst through doping strategy and interface engineering. This catalyst is constructed by layered self-supporting arrays with heterojunction interface and rich nitrogen-phosphorus doping.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are attracting attention in the fields of medicine, food, and agriculture because of their broad-spectrum antibacterial properties, low resistance, and low-residue in the body. However, the low yield and instability of the prepared AMP drugs limit their application. In this study, we designed a tetramer of the AMP CC34, constructed and transfected two recombinant expression vectors with pGAPZαA containing a haploid CC34 and tetraploid CC34 (CC34-4js) into Pichia pastoris to explore the effect of biosynthesized peptides.

Room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) polymers, whose emission can persist for a long period after photoexcitation, are of great importance for practical applications. Herein, dynamic covalent boronic ester linkages with internal B-N coordination are incorporated into a commercial epoxy matrix. The reversible dissociation of B-N bonds upon loading provides an efficient energy dissipation pathway for the epoxy network, while the rigid epoxy matrix can inhibit the quenching of triplet excitons in boronic esters.

Although clinical studies have shown the possible relationship between () infection and the development of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), their causal relationship is still unknown. This bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) study aimed to investigate the causal link between i infection and NAFLD. Two previously reported genetic variants SNPs rs10004195 and rs368433 were used as the instrumental variables (IVs) of infection.

  • The study investigates the relationship between pyroptosis (a type of cell death) and the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) in gastric cancer to better understand their interactions.
  • Researchers identified distinct groups based on pyroptosis-related characteristics and created a pyroptosis risk score to predict immunotherapy responses and identify potential cancer treatments.
  • Findings show that a low pyroptosis risk score correlates with favorable immune cell profiles and better patient outcomes, validating its effectiveness as a prognostic tool for survival and immunotherapy response in gastric cancer.

Harsh conditions are inevitable for long-term use of self-healing polymers. However, the majority of reported self-healing materials cannot remain stable under harsh conditions due to the presence of vulnerable dynamic crosslinking sites. Herein, a universal self-healing poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) polymer is reported.
