This multicenter, retrospective study evaluated the impact of pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND) on survival outcomes in non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) patients undergoing radical cystectomy (RC) and identified factors associated with upstaging. A total of 544 NMIBC patients who underwent RC with or without PLND between 2019 and 2024 were analyzed. Survival outcomes, including cancer-specific survival (CSS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS), were compared using Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox proportional hazards models, while factors associated with upstaging were examined through logistic regression.

Objective: To explore the feasibility and efficacy of the modified technique of totally intracorporeal ileal conduit (IC) construction vaginal approach following robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) in females.

Methods: By comparing the perioperative outcomes of the modified technique with extracorporeal urinary diversion (ECUD), 31 females treated for bladder cancer with RARC and IC from May 2020 to December 2023 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into two groups: the ECUD group (10 patients) and the modified intracorporeal urinary diversion (MICUD group) (21 patients). The modified technique involved performing transvaginal natural orifice specimen extraction surgery (TV-NOSES) after RARC; followed by the transvaginal placement of an Endo-GIA stapler to manipulate the bowel for intracorporeal IC construction.

This study presents an innovative method for establishing an orthotopic murine bladder tumor model with high efficiency and precise tumor localization. After anesthetizing female C57BL/6J mice in a supine position, a 24 G intravenous needle is inserted into the bladder to evacuate its contents. A 34 G dispensing needle is then introduced through the catheter, rotated five times to create a focal injury to the bladder dome mucosa, and subsequently removed.

Despite its significant clinical efficacy as a first-line treatment for advanced bladder cancer, cisplatin-based chemotherapy provides a limited benefit for patients with lymphovascular invasion (LVI), which is characterized by the presence of tumor emboli within blood vessels and associated with enhanced cisplatin resistance and metastatic potential. Notably, platelets, a critical component of LVI, hinder the delivery of chemotherapeutic agents to tumors and facilitate metastasis. Consequently, platelet function inhibition holds the potential to disrupt LVI formation, as well as augment the antitumor activity of cisplatin.
