The aim of this study was to screen lactic acid bacteria (LAB) suitable for starch-based fermentation from traditional fermented shredded potatoes (TFSP). Analysis of the microbial diversity by 16S rDNA sequencing in TFSP revealed that LAB were a genus with high relative abundance of the bacteria population. Thirty LAB strains were isolated and purified from TFSP.

Background: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears often coincide with variable extents of cartilage lesions, which typically worsen clinical symptoms and increase osteoarthritis risk. Alterations in the metabolic profile may be informative for the response of the ACL-injured knee to cartilage lesions.
Purpose: To determine the effect of the severity of cartilage lesions on synovial fluid metabolism of patients with ACL tears by (1) identifying characteristic metabolites and key metabolic pathways and (2) analyzing the associations between these biomarkers and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs).
Purpose: To evaluate the real-world effectiveness of the rope-ladder in situ puncture technique in autogenous arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) for hemodialysis patients.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 88 AVF patients from the Hemodialysis Center of Cangzhou Central Hospital. The observation group ( = 40) received the Rope Ladder-in-Situ Cannulation Technique (RLiSCT), while the control group ( = 48) underwent conventional rope-ladder or area puncture.
Purpose: The NADIM II trial demonstrated that combining perioperative nivolumab, an immune checkpoint inhibitor, with intensified chemotherapy significantly enhanced pathological complete response rates and overall survival in patients with surgically resectable stage III non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) compared to those receiving chemotherapy alone. However, concerns persist regarding the substantial cost of immunotherapy. Our study aims to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of neoadjuvant treatment combining nivolumab with chemotherapy versus standard neoadjuvant chemotherapy alone in resectable stage III NSCLC patients within the U.

Age-related conditions, such as osteoporosis, muscle atrophy, and impaired balance, predispose older adults to falls and traumatic injuries, leading to worse neurological outcomes compared to younger patients. SCI pathophysiology consists of two phases: the initial mechanical injury and the secondary injury that involves a cascade of pathological events, including ischemia, apoptosis, and neuronal cell death.

Background: Some patients still experience mild residual rotational laxity of the knee after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). The clinical symptoms of this residual rotational laxity are controversial, and methods for evaluating the symptoms have become a focus of academic interest in recent years. It is unclear whether there is a correlation between mild residual rotational laxity after ACLR and performance.

Using a literature review methodology, we elucidate clopidogrel's pharmacokinetic properties and pharmacodynamic mechanisms, while evaluating its clinical efficacy and adverse reactions in disease management. Recent studies have emphasized the key role of genetic polymorphisms in regulating the efficacy and safety of clopidogrel.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a devastating condition with limited self-repair capacity, resulting in long-term disabilities. Endogenous neural stem cells (eNSCs), which are present in the adult central nervous system (CNS), hold significant potential for repairing neural damage following SCI. These cells can proliferate, migrate to the injury site, and differentiate into various neural cell types, including neurons and glial cells.

Cinnamaldehyde (CA), a major bioactive component in Cinnamon essential oil, is known for its neuroprotective effects by inhibiting neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis. However, CA specific role in SCI remains unclear.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy (NCRT) in locally advanced colon cancer (LACC).
Methods And Materials: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov databases were searched to review relevant studies on NCRT for LACC published publicly from January 1, 2000 to October 31, 2024.
This study systematically investigated two ecotypes of , the dominant species responsible for green tides in the Yellow Sea, classified as Subtype I (strain ) and Subtype II (strain ). Both subtypes produce positively phototactic biflagellate gametes with oval/pear-shaped morphology but exhibit distinct cellular dimensions. Subtype I gametes demonstrated significantly larger cell sizes, with long and short axes measuring 6.

Multiplexed detection of IS core biomarkers is of great significance to early diagnosis and personalized treatment of IS patients. Whether pericytes, a key component of the neurovascular unit and blood-brain barrier located on the capillary wall, could serve as a promising biomarker for IS is to be explored.

Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) offers great potential for label-free molecular diagnosis, especially in detecting disease biomarkers. However, the complexity of the biological environment in clinical human serum often significantly impairs detection accuracy. In this study, we present a highly effective SERS strategy utilizing aptamer origami-collapsed nanofingers for the precise qualitative and quantitative detection of specific targeted biomarkers in clinical serum.

Despite the widespread attention to pathology in the treatment of HCC patients, a large amount of information contained in pathological images is often overlooked.
Methods: We retrospectively collected clinical data and pathological slide images from (a) 331 HCC patients at Qingdao University Affiliated Hospital between January 2013 and December 2016 and (b) 180 HCC patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA).

The Ni/Al layered double oxide (Ni/Al-LDO) is a promising photocatalyst because of the high surface area and abundant active sites. However, the application of Ni/Al-LDO for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution is hindered by the unclarity of the optimized microstructure and limited light absorption. In this work we report the structural evolution from Ni/Al layered double hydroxides (Ni/Al-LDH) to Ni/Al-LDO, which is able to achieve a precise regulation of the layered structure with abundant acid sites for photocatalysis.

It is widely reported that Alzheimer's disease (AD) is associated with the highest risk of COVID-19 infection, hospitalization and mortality. However, it remains largely unclear about the link between AD and COVID-19.

Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that predominantly affects the elderly and is characterized by complex pathogenesis. Within the unified framework of the ANT, the introduction of B (the disruption of the blood-brain barrier) facilitates communication between the brain and the periphery through the blood-brain barrier. In this context, inflammatory factors act as a bridge, and the neuroinflammation hypothesis is gaining increasing acceptance.

First documented in the Eastern Han Dynasty's medical classic, "Treatise on Febrile and Miscellaneous Diseases" (200-210 Anno Domini), Banxia Xiexin Decoction (BXD) stands as a quintessential approach to treating spleen ailments. Recent studies have shown BXD's effectiveness in mitigating memory impairment associated with AD.

Polycrystalline thin films dominate current applications but suffer from efficiency and stability losses largely due to grain boundaries. Perovskite single-crystal thin films (SCTFs) offer optimized carrier diffusion and reduced recombination losses, though challenges in achieving high-quality SCTFs remain.
