The increase in wildfire frequency worldwide has contributed to persistent atmospheric black carbon (BC) pollution, which was closely relative to multiple adverse health effects. Accurate quantification of BC in biological tissues and fluids is fundamental for evaluating its health effect; however, existing analytical methodologies are hindered by time-consuming protocols, low throughput, and the need for expensive instrumental infrastructure. In this study, we developed a fluorometric method for quantifying BC in various biological fluids with the advantages of simplicity, high sensitivity, and low cost.

However, whether ubiquitination-related genes (UbRGs) can be used to predict the prognosis of OC remains to be revealed. Patients with OC were divided into two clusters based on the expression of UbRGs, and prognosis was compared between the two clusters.

However, many BC tumours that initially respond eventually develop acquired Tamoxifen resistance. Bioinformatics analysis was conducted on genes affected by Tamoxifen and upregulated in Tamoxifen-resistant cells to identify the biological processes associated with Tamoxifen resistance.

Background: Accumulating evidence highlights the critical role of dysregulated Wnt/β-catenin signaling in colorectal cancer (CRC) pathogenesis. However, the clinical translation of therapeutics targeting this pathway remains challenging. While ABCD3 is known to modulate the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway and influence CRC progression, its precise molecular regulatory mechanisms and prognostic significance require further elucidation.

YTH N6-methyladenosine RNA binding protein F2 (YTHDF2) is a N6-methyladenosine (m6A) "reader" that recognizes m6A methylation of mRNA and can be regulated by histone lactylation. This study aimed to investigate the role of histone lactylation in NSCLC and the underlying mechanism using in vitro experiments.

Na-layered Li-containing Mn-based cathodes (NaLiMnO, NLMOs) with additional Na storage ability resulting from the anionic redox reaction (ARR) hold great promise for sodium-ion batteries (NIBs). However, practical applications of NLMOs encounter challenges, such as migration of transition metal Mn, loss of lattice oxygen, and voltage decay during cycling. Here, we show that Cu plays an important role in enhancing the ARR via the reductive coupling mechanism (RCM).

The novel phenothiazine-containing 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)azoles exhibit distinct white-light emission, which could be fabricated as low-cost and robust organic white-light-emitting diodes. Additionally, the doped system of phenothiazine-containing 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)azole@triphenylamine displays an ultralong lifetime and afterglow, which could be further used in encryption.

Since 2013, China has significantly improved its control over atmospheric air pollution. However, air pollution in indoor environments, particularly in urban metro systems, has been largely neglected. In this study, we comprehensively investigated the spatiotemporal variations in particulate matter (PM) pollution inside metro stations and carriages across seven Chinese cities.

This paper introduces a novel leakage detection and localization algorithm for oil and gas pipelines, integrating wavelet denoising with a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM)-Transformer model. The proposed algorithm utilizes pressure sensors to collect real-time pipeline pressure data and applies wavelet denoising to eliminate noise from the pressure signals.

Traditional fermented foods often contain specialized microorganisms adapted to their unique environments. For example, the filamentous mold Aspergillus oryzae, used in saké fermentation, has evolved to thrive in starch-rich conditions compared to its wild ancestor, Aspergillus flavus. Similarly, Aspergillus sojae, used in soybean-based fermentations like miso and shochu, is hypothesized to have been domesticated from Aspergillus parasiticus.

Multi-class endoscope artifacts detection is crucial for eliminating interference caused by artifacts during clinical examinations and reducing the rate of misdiagnosis and missed diagnoses by physicians. However, this task remains challenging such as data imbalance, similarity, and occlusion among artifacts. To overcome these challenges, we propose an Occlusion-Aware Class Characteristic Mining Network (OCCMNet) to detect eight classes of artifacts in endoscope simultaneously.

Mass spectrometry and proteomics techniques were used to analyze the three-dimensional structure of these protein molecules and predict their active sites and functional domains. The effects of USP53, NPY2R and DCTN1-AS1 on biological behavior of tumor cells were studied by constructing gene knockout and overexpression cell models.

Manganese-based (Mn-based) layered oxides have emerged as competitive cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs), primarily due to their high energy density, cost-effectiveness, and potential for mass production. However, these materials often suffer from irreversible oxygen redox reactions, significant phase transitions, and microcrack formation, which lead to considerable internal stress and degradation of electrochemical performance. This study introduces a high-entropy engineering strategy for P2-type Mn-based layered oxide cathodes (HE-NMCO), wherein a multi-ingredient cocktail effect strengthens the lattice framework by modulating the local environmental chemistry.

Here, a sulfonate-based deep eutectic electrolyte (DEE) resulting from the eutectic effect between solid sultone and lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide without any other additives is reported. The intermolecular coordination effect triggers this eutectic phenomenon, as evidenced with nuclear magnetic resonance, and thus the electrochemical behavior of the DEE can be controlled by jointly regulating the coordination effects of F···H and Li···O intermolecular interactions.

Magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (FeO NPs, mainly FeO and γ-FeO) are nanomaterials ubiquitously present in aquatic, terrestrial, and atmospheric environments, with a high prevalence and complex sources. Over the past decade, numerous reports have emerged on the presence of exogenous particles in human body, facilitated by the rapid development of separation and detection methods. The health risk associated with magnetic FeO NP have garnered escalating attention due to their presence in human blood and brain tissues, especially for their potential association with neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease.

However, macroscopic/statistical investigation on how doping sites are distributed in the material lattice, despite being a key prerequisite for understanding and manipulating the doping effect, has not been effectively established. Herein, to solve this predicament, a universal strategy is proposed to quantitatively identify the locations of Al and Mg dopants in lithium-rich layered oxides (LLOs).
