The centrosomal protein of 44 kDa (CEP44) is essential for centriole duplication, centrosome cohesion, and spindle integrity. It localizes to the proximal end of centrioles and associates with spindle microtubules. Liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) is a process by which biomolecules undergo demixing into distinct liquid-like phases, facilitating the formation of cellular condensates such as the centrosome.

Skin elasticity is critical for maintaining skin function, yet the molecular mechanisms governing this process remain incompletely understood. Herein, we identify enkurin domain-containing protein 1 (ENKD1) as a key regulator of skin elasticity by modulating microtubule stability in basal keratinocytes. In Enkd1 knockout mice, impaired migration of basal keratinocytes results in reduced epidermal elasticity compared to wild-type controls.

Although treatment options for newly diagnosed advanced EOC include primary debulking surgery (PDS) or neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) followed by interval debulking surgery (IDS), the comparative effectiveness of these strategies remains uncertain across different disease stages.
Materials And Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of 297 patients with EOC whose initial treatment strategy was guided by predicted primary resectability using the Suidan model.

Backround And Objectives: Whether variables specific to children's neighborhood-level social determinants of health are associated with neighborhood incidence of pediatric firearm-related injury hospital encounters has not been assessed in any entire state. This study sought to determine the relationship between home zip code Childhood Opportunity Index (COI) and zip code incidence of pediatric firearm-related injury hospital encounters in 4 geographically representative states.
Methods: This retrospective observational cohort study combined 2016-2021 discharge data from Florida, Maryland, New York, and Wisconsin with COI 3.
Background: Circadian rhythm disruption, as a modifiable risk factor, has been increasingly recognised for its potential impact on adverse health outcomes, particularly in surgical populations where its implications warrant further investigation.
Objectives: To investigate associations between postoperative outcomes and preoperative rest-activity rhythm metrics from accelerometry.
Design: A cohort analysis of UK Biobank participants undergoing major surgery within 1 year of accelerometer monitoring.
Background: This study investigates the association of circadian rhythmicity, physical activity, and chronotype with periodontal diseases, focusing on both the independent and combined effects.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 94,305 participants from the UK Biobank. Circadian rhythmicity, measured by relative amplitude from the accelerometer, was the primary exposure, with physical activity and chronotype (morning/evening preference) as secondary exposures.
The egg parasitoids, Trichogramma spp. are important biological control agents targeting various lepidopteran pests in agriculture. However, laboratory rearing often reduces genetic diversity, and potentially decreased fitness of Trichogramma wasps.

Identifying risk factors for ankle fracture-related infection (FRI) is beneficial in preventing complications and reducing the risk of treatment. The study aims to retrospectively analyze clinical risk factors for ankle FRI.

Objective: This study aims to develop and evaluate a multidisciplinary care model utilizing Quality Control Circle (QCC) methodology for elderly patients undergoing radical cystectomy.
Methods: This comparative study included patients who underwent radical cystectomy at Zhujiang Hospital between May 2022 and July 2023 (pre-improvement group, = 65) and between August 2023 and July 2024 (post-improvement group, = 41). The QCC team implemented four key interventions: a case manager-led collaborative team, a comprehensive care information platform, tiered holistic care management protocols, and an evidence-based referral system.
Anti-angiogenic therapies (AATs) exhibit limited efficacy, as most patients with cancer inevitably develop resistance to them. In this study, data generated using a nasopharyngeal carcinoma orthotopic mouse model, combined with clinical data, reveal compensatory vasculogenic mimicry (VM) formation during AAT treatment and the association of VM with poor prognosis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Additionally, data-independent acquisition mass spectrometry-based proteomics shows that upregulation of a disintegrin And metalloprotease 10 (ADAM10) contributes to VM.

Adipocytes support tumor progression by secreting free fatty acids (FFAs) and adipokines; however, the role and mechanisms underlying lipid droplet (LD) release from adipocytes remain elusive.
Methods: Using two nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cell lines and primary human pre-adipocytes (HPA), we evaluate the effect of LDs on cell growth, proliferation, colony formation, and migration.
This study investigates the synergistic strengthening effects of in situ synthesized nano (ZrB + AlO) particles and rare earth Er microalloying on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 7085 aluminum alloy. The composite material was prepared through a melt direct reaction combined with rolling and T6 heat treatment, with microstructural evolution characterized by metallurgical microscopy, XRD, and SEM. Results demonstrate that the addition of 3 vol.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between arterial oxygen partial pressure (PaO) and all-cause mortality of post-cardiac surgery patients.
Design: A retrospective cohort study based on the Medical Information Mart in Intensive Care-III (MIMIC-III) database.
Setting: The MIMIC-III database is a dataset comprising the clinical data of patients admitted to intensive care units (ICUs) at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Objective: We studied a collaborative-wide quality improvement project (CQIP) focused on improving postdischarge venous thromboembolism (VTE) chemoprophylaxis adherence. We aimed to identify patient-level characteristics associated with adherence, evaluate differences in adherence rates among participating hospitals, and assess facilitators and barriers to adherence at high- and low-performing hospitals.
Background: VTE is the most common preventable cause of death after abdominopelvic cancer surgery, yet adherence to guideline-recommended postdischarge VTE chemoprophylaxis remains suboptimal.
Background: Mental health disorders impose a substantial social and economic burden. We conducted a comprehensive assessment of global mental health resource allocation and the associated burdens of mental health disorders, examining the relationship between these two factors.
Methods: We utilized data from the WHO Global Health Observatory and GBD 2021 to encompass 146 countries.

Objectives: Hypopharyngeal cancer (HPC), originating from the hypopharyngeal mucosa, is associated with a poor prognosis. Extracellular matrix (ECM) stiffness is closely linked to tumor progression and patient outcomes. This study aimed to investigate the effects of matrix stiffness and to identify molecular markers relevant to HPC prognosis, with the goal of improving clinical outcomes.

This study aimed to investigate the interplay between EZH2 and NPMSCs senescence-associated inflammation.
Methods: Nucleus pulposus samples were collected from IVDD patients (n = 15, F/M = 7/8, average age 47.
Background: Porcine circoviruses 3 (PCV3) and 4 (PCV4) are emerging pathogens with global implications for swine industry, disturbing the diagnosis of PCVs associated diseases due to a range of similar clinical symptoms and increasingly coinfections. A rapid and accurate method for detection of PCV3 and PCV4 is critical for controlling the transmission of associated disease.
Methods: We developed a duplex real-time recombinase aided amplification (RAA) assay for detection of both PCV3 and PCV4 simultaneously.

TBC1D20 deficiency causes Warburg Micro Syndrome in humans, characterized by multiple eye abnormalities, severe intellectual disability, and abnormal sexual development, but the molecular mechanisms remain unknown. Here, we identify TBC1D20 as a novel Rab11 GTPase-activating protein that coordinates vesicle transport and actin remodeling to regulate ciliogenesis. Depletion of TBC1D20 promotes Rab11 vesicle accumulation and actin deconstruction around the centrosome, facilitating the initiation of ciliogenesis even in cycling cells.
