Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disorder that primarily affects children. Considering the intricate clinical presentation of this disease, the identification of specific biomarkers associated with susceptibility to LCH is essential for timely diagnosis and risk stratification. In this study, we examined the skin specimens from pediatric patients with LCH using RNAscope, immunohistochemistry, and sequencing techniques.

Pest infestations remain a critical threat to global agriculture, significantly compromising crop yield and quality. While accurate pest detection forms the foundation of precision pest management, current approaches face two primary challenges: (1) the scarcity of comprehensive multi-scale, multi-category pest datasets and (2) performance limitations in detection models caused by substantial target scale variations and high inter-class morphological similarity. To address these issues, we present three key contributions: First, we introduce Insect25-a novel agricultural pest detection dataset containing 25 distinct pest categories, comprising 18,349 high-resolution images.

However, the potential genetic mechanisms underlying lung-gastrointestinal comorbidities remain unclear. Here, we leverage lung and gastrointestinal trait data from individuals of European, East Asian and African ancestries, to perform a large-scale genetic cross trait analysis, followed by functional annotation and Mendelian randomization analysis to explore the genetic mechanisms involved in the development of lung-gastrointestinal comorbidities.

Background & Aims: Serum lipids, including lipoproteins, cholesterol, and triglycerides, are important modifiable factors influencing human health. However, the associations among different serum lipid profiles and mortality remain insufficiently understood, particularly regarding potential causality and population heterogeneity. This prospective study aims to systematically investigate the relationships between serum lipid concentrations of different densities and sizes with all-cause and cause-specific mortality.

Electroacupuncture Reduces Duration of Postoperative Ileus After Laparoscopic Gastrectomy for Gastric Cancer: A Multicenter Randomized Trial.

Background & Aims: Electroacupuncture (EA) may reduce the duration of postoperative ileus (POI) after laparoscopic gastrectomy for gastric cancer, although evidence is limited. We investigated the efficacy of EA in reducing POI duration and enhancing gastrointestinal (GI) recovery in patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery for gastric cancer.

Methods: This multicenter randomized trial was conducted at 7 hospitals in China, enrolling 585 participants who underwent laparoscopic resection for gastric cancer from October 27, 2021, to December 21, 2023.

The Milky Way underwent significant transformations in its early history, characterised by violent mergers and satellite galaxy accretion. However, recent observations reveal notable star formation events over the past 4 Gyr, likely triggered by perturbations from the Sagittarius dwarf galaxy. Here, we present chemical signatures of this accretion event, using the [Fe/H] (metallicity) and [O/Fe] (oxygen abundance) ratios of thin-disc stars.

Background: Both body mass index (BMI) and genetic factors independently contribute to cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, it is unclear whether genetic risk modifies the association between BMI and the risk of incident CVD. This study aimed to investigate whether BMI categories and genetic risk jointly and interactively contribute to incident CVD events, including hypertension (HTN), atrial fibrillation (AF), coronary heart disease (CHD), stroke, and heart failure (HF).

Associations of ambient air pollution and lifestyle with the risk of NAFLD: a population-based cohort study.

Background: Both ambient air pollution and lifestyle factors contribute to the incidence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), but previous studies usually focused on single-factor associations. We aimed to assess the joint associations of ambient air pollution and lifestyle with the NAFLD risk and investigate whether lifestyle modifies the association of air pollution with NAFLD risk.

Methods: A total of 417,025 participants from the UK Biobank were included in this study.

Potassium ion signaling mediates microbial communication in electroactive biofilms within microbial fuel cells (MFCs), but its role in nitrogen removal remains unclear. This study investigated the impact of inhibiting potassium signaling on nitrogen removal in MFCs using tetraethylammonium chloride (TEA) as an inhibitor. Results demonstrated that 5 mM and 10 mM TEA reduced the maximum power generation of MFCs from 77.

Here, a series of dinuclear N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) copper(I) complexes having 3,3'-(1,4-phenylenebis(methylene))bis(1-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-imidazolylidene as bis-NHC ligand and bis[(2-diphenylphosphino)phenyl]ether (POP) as auxiliary ligand have been successfully prepared, and their photophysical properites were investigaged experimentally and theocitcally. The resulting complexes all exhibited intense green to yellow emission that originated from the thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) with a high photoluminescence quantum yield of up to 0.67 and longer excited-state lifetimes on the microsecond time scale in the solid state.

We conducted a meta-analysis and used the Mendelian randomization method (MR) to evaluate the association between RA and Pca risk. A meta-analysis and subgroup analysis of the incidence of Pca in patients with RA was conducted.
