The non-faradaic application of electric fields generated at the surface of charged electrodes to polarize bound molecules, also termed as electro-inductive effects, have recently attracted increasing attention in modifying the chemical reactivity of molecules in electrosynthesis. Herein, we applied this electro-inductive effect to control the Lewis adduct formation and dissociation between BF and pyridine N of heterocycles to realize single-molecule contact switching. single-molecule conductance measurements, Raman analysis and theoretical calculations clearly show that the outward electric field along the positively-charged electrode surface polarizes adsorbed molecules to withdraw electron density from the terminal pyridine N, which weakens the N-BF Lewis bond for dissociation upon applied positive potentials.

Over centuries of clinical practice, Chinese herbal medicines (CHMs) have gained widespread recognition for their efficacy in treating various diseases. However, their complex material basis and relatively mild therapeutic efficacy limit their modernization and quality control. Recently, the application of pharmaceutical nanotechnology to CHMs has not only enhanced their efficacy, but also helped elucidate their material basis, thereby substantially advancing their modernization.

Objective: Exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) or metal(loid)s individually has been associated with neural tube defects (NTDs). However, the impacts of PAH and metal(loid) co-exposure and potential interaction effects on NTD risk remain unclear. We conducted a case-control study in China among population with a high prevalence of NTDs to investigate the combined effects of PAH and metal(loid) exposures on the risk of NTD.

Background: Excessive endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in intestinal epithelial cells can lead to damage to the intestinal mucosal barrier, activate the signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3)/nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathway, and exacerbate the inflammatory response, thus participating in the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC). Mesalazine is a commonly used drug in the clinical treatment of UC. However, further studies are needed to determine whether mesalazine regulates the ER stress of intestinal epithelial cells, down-regulates the STAT3/NF-κB pathway to play a role in the treatment of UC.

Considering Henan Province as the research area, based on land use data with a resolution of 30 m in 2000, 2010, and 2020, we analyzed the distribution of the production-living-ecological space and the quality of the ecological environment in Henan Province using land transfer matrices and an eco-environmental effect model. Furthermore, based on 2020 land use data, the PLUS model was used to simulate land use data for the years 2030, 2040, and 2050 under three scenarios: natural development, production priority, and ecological priority. Finally, we calculated the ecological environment quality index and ecological contribution rate.

The exploration of structure-activity relationships is one of the key subjects for the rational design of heterogeneous catalysts. Advancements in characterization techniques have unveiled significant geometric and electronic structural changes at active sites under working conditions. This dynamic nature of active sites presents a formidable challenge in determining their structure-activity relationships.

Background: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic non-specific inflammatory intestinal disease, categoried under "dysentery" and "intestinal bleeding" in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Jianpi Qingchang decoction (JPQC) is a combination formula specifically designed for the treatment of UC. The primary objective of this study is to examine the clinical efficacy of JPQC in individuals diagnosed with UC who exhibit both spleen deficiency and dampness-heat syndrome, along with the presence of fatigue.

Simulating the changes in ecosystem service value induced by land use changes in the peak cluster depression basin of southwestern Guangxi under multiple scenarios is of great importance for ensuring ecological security in the basin and enhancing regional ecosystem service value capabilities. Based on the CA-Logistic-Markov model, the land use of the study area was simulated under natural development, food security, and ecological protection scenarios in 2030. The ecosystem service value was calculated under each scenario using the equivalent factor correction model, and the spatiotemporal dynamic characteristics of the ecosystem service value in the peak cluster depression basin of southwestern Guangxi were quantitatively analyzed.

Herein, a label-free single-molecule electrical sensor was first proposed for the ultrasensitive and selective detection of iodide ions in human urine. Single-molecule conductance measurements in different halogen ion solutions via scanning tunneling microscopy break junction (STM-BJ) clearly revealed that I ions strongly affect the stability and displacement distance (Δ) distribution of molecular junctions. Theoretical calculations prove that the specific adsorption of I ions modifies the surface properties and weakens the molecular adsorption.

This study aimed to determine the expression levels of the autophagy markers Beclin-1 and p62 in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and explore the association between autophagy and disease prognosis. The expression of Beclin-1 and p62 was investigated in patients with DLBCL and patients with reactive lymphoproliferative disease (RLD) using immunohistochemistry. The association between the clinical characteristics of patients with DLBCL and autophagy status was further analyzed.
