Improving the photon-magnon coupling strength can be done by tuning the structure of microwave resonators to better interact with the magnon counterpart. Planar resonators accommodating unconventional photon modes beyond the half- and quarter-wavelength designs have been explored due to their optimized mode profiles and potentials for on-chip integration. Here, we designed and fabricated an actively controlled ring resonator supporting the spoof localized surface plasmons (LSPs), and implemented it in the investigation of photon-magnon coupling for hybrid magnonic applications.

To enhance the accuracy of predicting the height of water-conducting fracture zones (WCFZ) in coal mines, this study proposes a novel stacked ensemble learning model. The model integrates XGBoost and Support Vector Regression (SVR) as base learners, with CatBoost serving as the meta-learner, forming a two-layer architecture. Key geological and mining features-such as mining height, burial depth, working face length, and lithologic proportion coefficient-are used as input variables to better capture the complex influencing factors.

Background: Male sex is a risk factor of the development and prognosis of primary liver cancers. However, sex difference of tumor recurrence following curative resection and the underlying mechanism needs to be clarified.

Methods: Sex and outcomes among patients undergoing resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) or intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) were investigated in two international multi-institutional databases.

Background: Hepatic inflammation during liver resection induces immune dysregulation. We sought to investigate how surgical stress reshapes systemic inflammation and affects tumor recurrence following surgical resection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Methods: Patients who underwent curative resection of HCC between 2000 and 2022 were identified from an international multicenter cohort.

Honey bees and other pollinators are key to functioning natural and managed ecosystems. However, their health is threatened by many factors, including pesticides. Spraying fungicides during flowering of fruit trees is widespread even though it directly exposes pollinators to these fungicides.

is a polyphagous pest capable of harming multiple plant species. Adult beetles invade tree trunks by boring holes, which negatively impacts the trees' growth and may result in tree death. depends on plant volatiles to identify and locate appropriate hosts for feeding or reproduction, with its olfactory system playing a vital role in volatile detection.

Purpose: The aim of this trial was to evaluate the analgesic effect of dexmedetomidine combined with ropivacaine for thoracoscopic-guided thoracic paravertebral block (TTPB) after thoracoscopic radical resection (TRR) of lung cancer.

Methods: A total of 60 patients were enrolled from our hospital who underwent elective TRR of lung cancer and randomized into either a control group (group C) or a dexmedetomidine group (group D). Prior to incisional suturing, group C received ropivacaine alone for TTPB, while group D received dexmedetomidine combined with ropivacaine for TTPB.

Lung cancer, a significant global health challenge, is primarily classified into non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer. Despite advancements in targeted therapies and immunotherapies, NSCLC outcomes remain poor, with low five-year survival rates. Given the lung's constant exposure to the environment and the presence of mucosal-associated lymphoid tissues, immunity plays a crucial role in NSCLC development.

Bilirubin exists as albumin-bound complexes in the bloodstream of patients with hyperbilirubinemia. Developing adsorbents with high removal efficiency for albumin-bound bilirubin and excellent hemocompatibility is essential for effective hemoperfusion therapy. Herein, microfibrillated cellulose-reinforced polyethyleneimine cryogels (PEI/MFC) with robust mechanical properties were fabricated through cryo-induced chemical crosslinking, using bis(vinylsulphonyl)methane (BVSM) as chemical cross-linker.

Background: Dexmedetomidine is a central α-2 adrenergic agonist characterized by its sedative, analgesic, and sympatholytic properties. We investigated the effect of low dose dexmedetomidine on the dose-response relationship of propofol for sedation in patients undergoing operative hysteroscopy.

Methods: The patients were firstly randomly assigned to receive either propofol and fentanyl (P group, n = 100) or a combination of propofol, dexmedetomidine, and fentanyl (DP group, n = 100).

Ropivacaine for thoracoscopy-guided thoracic paravertebral block (TTPB) offers only a short duration of postoperative pain relief, which is inadequate for managing pain following thoracic surgery. Research has shown that combining dexamethasone with ropivacaine significantly prolongs the duration of analgesia from the nerve block. We hypothesised that TTPB with ropivacaine combined with dexamethasone would enhance postoperative analgesia and prolong the duration of analgesia in patients undergoing radical thoracoscopic lung cancer surgery.

The liver is a sexually dimorphic organ. Sex differences in prevalence, progression, prognosis, and treatment prevail in most liver diseases, and the mechanism of how liver diseases act differently among male versus female patients has not been fully elucidated. Biological sex differences in normal physiology and disease arise principally from sex hormones and/or sex chromosomes.

Background: We sought to define whether and how hepatic ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) as manifested by perioperative aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransaminase (ALT) levels impact long-term outcomes after curative-intent resection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Patients And Methods: Intrasplenic injection of HCC cells was used to establish a murine model of HCC recurrence with versus without I/R injury. Patients who underwent curative resection for HCC were identified from a multi-institutional derivative cohort (DC) and separate external validation (VC) cohort.

The purification of polysaccharides is an essential preliminary step in determining their chemical structure, although it presents significant challenges. In this research, a macro-porous monolith of quaternary chitosan cryogel was synthesized for the purification of a neutral polysaccharide from Boletus auripes. A homogeneous neutral polysaccharide (BAP-1a1) with a weight-average molecular weight of 4.

With the growth in road transport volume and increasingly stringent environmental regulations, the use of lightweight dump trucks not only reduces fuel consumption but also enhances transport efficiency, aligning with the principles of green development. It has now become a key focus in the field of heavy-duty vehicle research. The carriage is located at the rear of the dump truck, connected to the chassis, and serves as the box for carrying cargo, making its strength and durability crucial.

Ultrasound provides a valuable non-invasive approach for fluid management in obstetric anesthesia. Ultrasonographic parameters assist anesthesiologists to effectively assess the fluid status of parturients and reduce related complications. In addition to conventional parameters, which have been widely validated in clinical practice, we provide new insights into arterial parameters such as peak velocity, velocity-time integral, corrected flow time, and vein-related parameters, including the internal jugular vein and its collapsibility index, the inferior vena cava and its collapsibility index, as well as subclavian vein and its collapsibility index.

Background: Colonoscopic enteral tube placement using current methods has some shortcomings, such as the complexity of the procedure and tube dislodgement. The magnetic navigation technique (MNT) has been proven effective for nasoenteral feeding tube placement, and is associated with reduced cost and time to initiation of nutrition. This study attempted to develop a novel method for enteral tube placement using MNT.

Objective: The right upper transversal hepatectomy (RUTH) is considered a complex technique of parenchymal-sparing hepatectomies. The intraoperative management of the right hepatic vein (RHV) is still controversial because it may cause obstruction of outflow in the remnant hepatic segment. The aim of this study is to present our experience of laparoscopic RUTH and the strategy of RHV resection and reconstruction in different settings.
