Kirigami metasurfaces are two-dimensional engineered structures that leverage the principles of kirigami, the art of paper cutting, to create reconfigurable properties, such as selective transmission tunability, tunable refractive index, and shape-morphing. Although existing kirigami metasurfaces show applications in electromagnetic wave modulation, light and droplet manipulation, crawling locomotion, and actuators, their functionality remains limited, particularly at the nanoscale. This paper presents a novel real-time signal processing method for removing local field potential (LFP) artifacts during deep-brain stimulation (DBS). Real-time artifact removal is essential for closed-loop DBS systems, as they rely on real-time, artifact-free LFPs to provide stimulation feedback. Root traits significantly shape rhizosphere microbiomes, yet their interaction with microbes is often overlooked in plant breeding programs. Here, we propose that selecting modern cultivars based on microbiome interactive trait (MIT), such as root biomass, exudate patterns and the rhizosphere microbiome, can enhance agricultural sustainability by interacting effectively with soil microbiomes, which in turn, promotes plant growth and resistance to stress, thereby reducing reliance on synthetic crop protectants. Through a stepwise selection process (in silico and in vitro) that started with approximately 1000 potato genotypes, we chose 51 potato cultivars based on known phenotypical properties and distinct root exudate patterns.
