Objective: To investigate the relationship between angiotensin Ⅱ type 1 receptor autoantibody (AT1-AA) and semen parameters. Methods: The semen samples of 820 male patients who were treated in the Reproductive Medicine Center of Taiyuan Central Hospital from August 2022 to August 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. The levels of AT1-AA and Ang Ⅱ of semen were detected by ELISA, and the function of AT1-AA was detected by cardiomyocyte beating assay in suckling rats.

Especially, the hood, a distinctive cephalic skin protrusion, is a highly sought-after feature for its endearing aesthetics. Despite a longstanding hypothesis that the hood is a type of tumor, the details of their composition, structure, and the mechanism of its formation have remained enigmatic.

However, the underlying mechanisms have not been fully elucidated, particularly the impact of amyloid β-peptide (Aβ)-mediated astrocyte dysfunction on neuronal hyperexcitability. Building upon recent experiments demonstrating that Aβ induces neuronal hyperexcitability by reducing glutamate uptake and increasing glutamate release in astrocytes, we have developed here a neurocomputational model of the Aβ-mediated astrocyte-neuron tripartite synapse.

To examine this association, we conducted a systematic review using studies from PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library, applying a random-effects model while performing subgroup and sensitivity analyses to explore potential sources of heterogeneity. Subgroup analyses were performed by country, data source, and sample size.

However, the dynamical mechanism and potential process behind Aβ-induced spontaneous calcium dynamics have not been elucidated. Inspired by this, we develop a mathematical model of the Aβ-mediated astrocyte network to explore the multi-scale spontaneous calcium dynamics, where the network has a 3D multi-topology structure, including link radius, Erdős-Rényi, and scale-free networks.

However, our understanding about the patterns that allopolyploids modify homeolog expression upon pathogen invasion remains limited. Since 2012, a disease caused by herpesvirus (CaHV) has posed a severe threat to Carassius auratus aquaculture.

Magnesium ions (Mg), essential divalent cations, play a pivotal role in orchestrating a myriad of physiological and biochemical processes. However, the intricate relationship between Mg homeostasis and antiviral immunity in fish remains largely unexplored. In this study, we found that Mg enhances the interferon (IFN) response by increasing the expression of IFN regulatory factor 3 (IRF3) to inhibit spring viraemia of carp virus (SVCV) infection.

Capacitive anodes hold promise for enhancing microbial fuel cells (MFCs) in wastewater treatment, yet the impact of capacitive anodes with different capacitance type and mass specific capacitance on the performance remains unclear. This study compared electric double layer (EDL) and pseudo-capacitance anodes, evaluating their power generation and pollutant removal in MFCs. Results showed that EDL anode with 2 mg mass loading achieved 5.

Methods: First, small interfering RNA (siRNA)-mediated interference was conducted to knockdown nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2). Using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), the expression level of Nrf2 was determined from human retinal microvascular endothelial cells (HRMECs) transfected with either si-NC or si-Nrf2.

β-amyloid (Aβ) protein accumulation is recognized as a key factor in Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathogenesis. Its effects on astrocyte function appear primarily as disturbances to intracellular calcium signaling, which, in turn, affects neuronal excitability. We propose an innovative neuron-astrocyte interaction model to examine how Aβ accumulation influences astrocyte calcium oscillation and neuronal excitability, emphasizing its significance in AD pathogenesis.

Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the immune escape strategies employed by GCRV. In this study, we show that the structural protein VP4 of GCRV (encoded by the S6 segment) significantly restricts IFN expression by degrading stimulator of IFN genes (STING) through the autophagy-lysosome-dependent pathway.

There is increasing evidence that astrocytes are the primary targets of A. A can cause abnormal synaptic glutamate, aberrant extrasynaptic glutamate, and astrocytic calcium dysregulation through astrocyte glutamate transporters facing the synaptic cleft (GLT-syn), astrocyte glutamate transporters facing the extrasynaptic space (GLT-ess), metabotropic glutamate receptors in astrocytes (mGluR), N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors in astrocytes (NMDAR), and glutamatergic gliotransmitter release (Glio-Rel).

Background: Biopsy is the gold standard method for diagnosing liver fibrosis. FibroScan is a non-invasive method of diagnosing liver fibrosis, but it still faces some limitations. This study aimed to establish a nomogram model and identify patients at high risk of advanced liver fibrosis associated with hepatitis B infection.

Four biofilm carriers including pyrite, manganese ore, ceramsite, and polyurethane sponge were used to construct microbial separators (MSs), while their performance in dual-chamber microbial fuel cells (MFCs) was evaluated. Polyurethane sponge and pyrite were superior biofilm carriers for MSs. The dense biofilm on the polyurethane sponge provides MS with optimal barrier capacity against dissolved oxygen and chemical oxygen demand.

This work aims to explore the control effect of DBS on Alzheimer's disease (AD) from a neurocomputational perspective. Firstly, a data-driven cortical network model is constructed using the Diffusion Tensor Imaging data. Then, a typical electrophysiological feature of EEG slowing in AD is reproduced by reducing the synaptic connectivity parameters.

Cerebral small vascular disease (CSVD) has a high incidence worldwide, but its pathological mechanisms remain poorly understood due to the lack of proper animal models. The current animal models of CSVD have several limitations such as high mortality rates and large-sized lesions, and thus it is urgent to develop new animal models of CSVD. Ultrasound can activate protoporphyrin to produce reactive oxygen species in a liquid environment.

However, electroactive biofilms (EBs) constructed with single potentials struggle due to limited biocatalytic activity, hindering deep SMX degradation.
