Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a life-threating syndrome characterized by sudden loss of kidney function, and its management is challenging and often suboptimal. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have shown promise in AKI therapy in pre-clinical and clinical trials; however, their clinical application still faces many challenges. MSC-derived small extracellular vesicles (sEV) may help overcome these challenges.

In this study, we prepared small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) from immortalised mesenchymal stem cells overexpressing brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and evaluated whether intranasal administration of BDNF-sEVs is a therapeutic option for acute SCI. In cultured neurons, BDNF loading enhanced neurite outgrowth promoted by sEVs.

Allergic rhinitis (AR), a chronic airway inflammation, has witnessed a rising prevalence in recent decades. Recent research indicates that various EVs are released into plasma in allergic airway inflammation, correlating with impaired airway function and severe inflammation. However, the contribution of plasma EVs to AR pathogenesis remains incompletely understood.

The electronic properties and OER catalytic activity of pristine BeN monolayers and single-transition-metal-doped BeN monolayers (TM@BeN) were systematically investigated using density functional theory. Among all the types of TM@BeN analyzed, Fe@BeN was determined to exhibit the best OER activity, with an overpotential of 0.33 V, and to display excellent metallic conductivity.

However, its role in allergic rhinitis (AR) is still unclear.
Methods: In the present study, we defined low-density neutrophils as CD14CD11BCD15LOX-1 (LOX-1 neutrophils), and their levels in the peripheral blood (PB) were evaluated and compared between patients with AR and healthy donors using flow cytometric analysis.

Previous studies showed that serum amyloid A (SAA) and macrophages were associated with allergic airway inflammation. However, the interaction between SAA1 and macrophages in allergic airway inflammation remains to be further elucidated. In this study, the levels of SAA1 were measured in nasal tissues from patients with eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP), house dust mite (HDM)-treated BEAS-2B cells and the tissues of mice of HDM-induced allergic airway inflammation.

Backgrounds: Allergic airway inflammation is prevalent worldwide and imposes a considerable burden on both society and affected individuals. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic advantages of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) overexpressed interleukin-10 (IL-10) for the treatment of allergic airway inflammation, as both IL-10 and MSCs possess immunosuppressive properties.
Methods: Induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived MSCs were engineered to overexpress IL-10 via lentiviral transfection (designated as IL-10-MSCs).

Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is one of the most prevalent acquired sensorineural hearing loss etiologies and is characterized by the loss of cochlear hair cells, synapses, and nerve terminals. Currently, there are no agents available for the treatment of NIHL because drug delivery to the inner ear is greatly limited by the blood-labyrinth barrier. In this study, we used mesenchymal stem cell-derived small extracellular vesicles (MSC-sEVs) as nanoscale vehicles to deliver brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and evaluated their protective effects in a mouse model of NIHL.

In recent decades, the medical utility of MSCs has been evaluated both in vitro and in vivo, providing a foundation for therapeutic applications. However, the existing limitations of MSC therapy indicate the necessity for novel therapies.

Methods: The research used data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), a dataset representative of the Chinese population.
The processes underlying adenomyosis are similar to those of tumor metastasis, and it is defined as progressive invasion by the endometrium and the subsequent creation of ectopic lesions. GRIM-19 regulates cell death via the mitochondrial respiratory chain. Stress following oxygen deprivation can induce tumor cell autophagy, leading to cell invasion and migration.

Objective To investigate the effects of self-made carriers on the cryopreservation of ovarian tissue of sheep. Methods Thirty-two ovaries were randomly assigned to fresh group, programmed freezing group,self-made carrier I vitrification group, and self-made carrier Ⅱ vitrification group. The morphology, proliferation, apoptosis, and estrogen level of the ovarian tissue in each group were observed.

The molecular basis underlying stress hematopoiesis remains to be fully understood. In this study, we reported that IRF7 represents an important regulator of stress hematopoiesis.

It is active in crizotinib-resistant patients, especially in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and brain metastasis. The aim of this study was to analyse the effects and side effects of ceritinib in ALK-rearranged NSCLC.

Materials And Methods: This prospective study included 208 pregnant women receiving assisted reproductive technology (IVF/ICSI). The following ultrasound parameters were measured: gestational sac size, the proportion of the embryo and gestational sac (embryo/gestational sac), yolk sac size, and fetal cardiac activity.
Two psychrotolerant facultative anaerobes, strains B7-2 and B5, were isolated from the Zoige Wetland on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. The 16S rRNA gene sequences of strains B7-2 and B5 shared high similarity (>99 %) with those of the type strains of the genus Trichococcus, while their digital DNA-DNA hybridization values with each other (49 %) and with the reference type strains (48-23 %) were lower than 70 %, which suggest that they represent two novel species of the genus Trichococcus. Cells of strains B7-2 and B5 were immotile cocci, grew in the temperature range of 4-37 °C (optimum 25 °C) and were alkaliphilic with optimum growth at pH 9.

Up to 50% of recurrent miscarriage cases in women occur without an underlying etiology. In the current prospective case-control study, we determined the impact of CGG trinucleotide expansions of the fragile-X mental retardation 1 () gene in 49 women with unexplained recurrent miscarriages. Case group consisted of women with two or more unexplained consecutive miscarriages.

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are common environmental contaminants that represent a considerable risk to reproductive toxicity in exposed human populations. Although some experimental studies have suggested an association between the levels of PCBs and semen quality, the direct effects of PCBs on human sperm parameters remain largely unexplored. To this aim, a short-term in vitro incubation experiment that better imitated the putative exposure of sperm to Aroclor 1254 (a commercial PCB mixture) in male reproduction tissue was conducted.
