Urbanization has introduced multiple factors that promote circadian clock dependent or independent disruption of physiology. Conditions such as late-night light (ALAN) exposure, shift working, cross-continental traveling may lead to circadian dysregulation leading to obesity, metabolic disorders and physiological alterations. As ALAN affects the circadian clock with concomitant effects on stress and free radical physiology, we hypothesised that night exposure to artificial light may affect the rate of aging.

The circadian clocks of the cell orchestrate a daily transcriptional rhythm that schedules key activities of the cell to maintain homeostasis and support resilience. Circadian rhythm is driven by the periodic oscillations of transcriptional activators and translational repressors, occurring in both the central and peripheral clocks. Accumulating evidence shows that aging impairs the functional synchrony of the circadian system which further escalate age-related disorders.

Unlabelled: The pathogenic bacterium reproduces via two specialized forms inside a eukaryotic host cell. The dividing form called the reticulate body (RB) must convert at late times into the infectious elementary body (EB) for spread to new host cells. Late genes are a temporal class of chlamydial genes believed to be responsible for RB-to-EB conversion, but late gene regulation is incompletely understood.

Neutrophils, key components of the innate immune system, have emerged as pivotal players in the tumor microenvironment (TME), particularly in breast cancer. These versatile cells contribute to both pro-tumorigenic and anti-tumorigenic processes through inflammatory signaling pathways that influence tumor progression, immune evasion, and therapeutic responses. Their recruitment to the TME, mediated by chemokines such as CXCL1 and CXCL8, and their subsequent activation underscore their complex role in breast cancer biology.

In the human brain, the nigrostriatal pathway regulates motor functions, and its selective deterioration leads to the onset of Parkinson's disease (PD), a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by motor dysfunction and significant disability. The A9 neurons, a subgroup of ventral mesencephalic dopaminergic (DA) neurons, form the nigrostriatal pathway that emerges from the nigral region and innervates into the striatum. These DA neurons exhibit extensive and arborized axonal terminals projecting into the dorsal striatum.
