Background: The community health service centers (CHCs) are becoming the major undertakers in China in the prevention and treatment of chronic cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as atrial fibrillation (AF). The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of a standardized model of primary-tertiary multidisciplinary collaborative care (PTCC) compared to usual care on AF patients in the community settings.
Methods: This study is a two-arm, prospective, multicenter, cluster randomized controlled, non-inferiority trial.
Background: The early repolarization pattern (ERP) is associated with cardiovascular death, but its connection with arrhythmias remains unknown. This study evaluated relationships between ERP and incident arrhythmias, including ventricular arrhythmias, bradyarrhythmias, and atrial fibrillation (AF)/flutter (Afl).
Methods And Results: We analyzed 14,679 middle-aged (45-64 years) participants from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities cohort, a prospective population-based study in the US.
Unlabelled: Tumor-associated macrophages (TAM) are a transcriptionally heterogeneous population, and their abundance and function in prostate cancer is poorly defined. We integrated parallel datasets from single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and multiplex immunofluorescence to reveal the dynamics of TAMs in primary and metastatic prostate cancer. Four TAM subpopulations were identified.

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) significantly increases the ischemic stroke risk. However, the relationship between age at diagnosis of AF and subsequent stroke risk remains poorly understood.
Methods And Results: We analyzed data from 5 prospective cohorts: ARIC (Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities) study, CHS (Cardiovascular Health Study), CARDIA (Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults), MESA (Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis), and Framingham Heart Study (including Offspring cohort and the Third-Generation cohorts).
Depression and comorbid pain are frequently encountered clinically, and the comorbidity complicates the overall medical management. However, the mechanism whereby depression triggers development of pain needs to be further elucidated. Here, by using the chronic restraint stress (CRS) mouse model of depression and comorbid pain, we showed that CRS hyperactivated the glutamatergic neurons in the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), as well as increasing the dendrite complexity and number.

Transforming waste activated sludge (WAS) into medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) via chain elongation (CE) technology is sustainable, yet pH effects on this process are poorly understood. In this study, semi-continuous flow experiments demonstrated that WAS degradation was highest under alkaline pH (10) but unsuitable for CE. Continuous output of MCFAs indicated that CE could be successfully performed under acidic pH (5) and neutral pH (7).
