Formaldehyde (FA) is a well-known environmental toxicant used in various industries, including biomedical, agriculture, and textiles, but poses significant health risks. Despite extensive research, the exact hepatotoxic mechanism of FA remains unclear. This study investigated FA-induced liver toxicity through an integrative analysis of proteomics and metabolomics in rat models, identifying 84 differentially expressed proteins and 66 metabolites.

Environmental stress in plants often leads to the accumulation of unfolded or misfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), triggering the unfolded protein response (UPR) and ER-associated degradation (ERAD) to restore protein homeostasis. In Arabidopsis, the ER stress sensor IRE1 catalyzes the unconventional splicing of bZIP60 mRNA, producing a transcription factor that regulates UPR-related genes. However, the role of IRE1 in ERAD regulation remains unclear.

Digital interventions are increasingly considered viable alternatives or complements to traditional face-to-face treatments, especially in improving accessibility and adherence.
Methods: A total of 30 outpatients were recruited and randomly assigned to either a digital intervention group or a face-to-face cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) control group.
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of pixel offset adjustments in digital light processing (DLP) three-dimensional (3D) printing on the marginal and internal fit and surface trueness of zirconia crowns. Zirconia crowns were designed using dental computer-aided design software (Dentbird; Imagoworks) and fabricated with a vat photopolymerization DLP 3D printer (TD6+; 3D Controls) under three pixel offset conditions (-1, 0, and 1). Pixel offset refers to the controlled modification of the outermost pixels in the XY plane during printing to compensate for potential dimensional inaccuracies.

Isotropic shrinkage is critical for producing dimensionally accurate prostheses using zirconia. However, the anisotropic shrinkage of 3D-printed zirconia limits its utility in clinical applications. We aimed to evaluate the impact of specimen axis alterations on the shrinkage of digital light processing (DLP)-printed zirconia.

However, psychometric evaluation of existing measures of SA in diverse populations is largely lacking, hindering cross-cultural and comparative studies. This study validated the short version of the Sexual Assertiveness Questionnaire (SAQ-9) and examined its measurement invariance across several languages, countries, genders, sexual orientations, and relationship statuses among 65,448 sexually-active adults ( = 32.

Despite its profound impact, the underlying causes and treatment methods of neuropathic pain remain poorly understood.
Methods: To better understand this condition, we conducted the first study examining the spatial distribution and dynamic expression changes of N-glycan molecules that play a crucial role in nervous system function and sustainable pain signal transmission across multiple regions of the spinal cord and brain in an experimentally induced neuropathic pain model, using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI MSI).
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Binge Eating Disorder Screener-7 (BEDS-7) across 42 countries and 26 languages, assessing its reliability and validity as a screening tool for binge-eating disorder (BED) in diverse cultural contexts. Specifically, it sought to enhance early recognition of BED symptoms in primary care settings globally, contributing to a standardized framework for assessing BED.
Method: The International Sex Survey, a cross-sectional online study, was conducted in 42 countries and 26 languages.

Key Points: p21-activated kinase 4 (PAK4) phosphorylates and inactivates GSH peroxidase 3 in the kidney after ischemia-reperfusion. Mice lacking PAK4 or treated with PAK4 proteolysis-targeting chimera were protected from kidney damage caused by ischemia-reperfusion injury. PAK4 expression in kidney tissues post-transplant inversely correlated with kidney function.

This study integrates whole-genome resequencing, transcriptomic data, and phenotypic analysis to identify the genetic factors that regulate transcript expression levels and contribute to phenotypic variation in rice ECQ traits. A TWAS (transcriptome-wide association study) identified 285 transcripts linked to 6 ECQ traits.

Neuropathic pain is triggered by nerve damage or disease and involves chronic neuroinflammation driven by activated microglia releasing pro-inflammatory cytokines. PANoptosis, a complex cell death program encompassing apoptosis, pyroptosis, and necroptosis, has emerged as a key player in neuroinflammation. While individual PANoptosis pathway have been linked to pain, its systemic role in neuropathic pain remains unclear.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is associated with the activation of Kupffer cells (KCs) and hepatic stellate cells, at which point a metabolically stressed hepatocyte becomes integral to the progression of the disease. We observed a significant reduction in the level of alpha-1-antitrypsin (A1AT), a hepatocyte-derived secreted factor, in both patients with MASH and mice fed a fast-food diet (FFD). KC-mediated hepatic inflammation, most notably IL-1β, led to the transcriptional inhibition of A1AT by HNF4α.

While previous studies have primarily focused on direct modulation of neuronal activity for post-stroke treatment, accumulating evidence suggests that astrocytes may play a critical role in post-stroke progression and could serve as a potential therapeutic target for recovery. In this study, we investigate the effects of selective modulation of astrocytic calcium signals on chronic stroke using OptoSTIM1, an optogenetic tool that activates endogenous calcium channels.

Cell wall invertases (CINs) hydrolyze sucrose into glucose and fructose, maintaining a sucrose gradient in the apoplast of sink tissues. In rice, two CIN isoforms, OsCIN1 and OsCIN2, were identified as being specifically expressed in the anthers but not in pollen.

Objective: The abuse of prescription drugs and over-the-counter medicines has been a major issue addressed as a serious public health problem worldwide. This study explored factors contributing to substance abuse in Korea by examining the status of substance abuse among Korean adults and evaluating their knowledge, attitudes, and intentions toward substance abuse.
Methods: Data were collected online from a sample of participants 19 years old or older from May 20 to June 1, 2020 (n=1,020).
