Article Abstract
Sexual assertiveness (SA) is an important concept in understanding sexual well-being and decision-making. However, psychometric evaluation of existing measures of SA in diverse populations is largely lacking, hindering cross-cultural and comparative studies. This study validated the short version of the Sexual Assertiveness Questionnaire (SAQ-9) and examined its measurement invariance across several languages, countries, genders, sexual orientations, and relationship statuses among 65,448 sexually-active adults ( = 32.98 years, = 12.08, 58% women, 2.74% gender-diverse individuals) taking part in the International Sex Survey. The scale demonstrated adequate psychometric properties. Measurement invariance tests indicated that the SAQ-9 is suitable for comparing individuals from different cultures, genders, sexual orientations, and relationship statuses, and significant group differences were also noted (e.g., gender-diverse individuals reported the highest levels of SA). Findings suggest that the SAQ-9 is a reliable and valid measure of SA and appropriate for use in diverse populations, with specific populations exhibiting varying levels of SA.

From the Buggery laws of 1533, to the hundreds of years of medical experiments taking advantage of already historically oppressed communities throughout the world, to the current anti-Trans laws and policies that are bombarding the nation today, reproductive autonomy has long been treated as a privilege as opposed to an inalienable right. The notion of reproductive freedom should be uncompromisable but it has not been fully realized due to the fostering and the legitimizing of coercive systems that keep marginalized communities oppressed, perpetuate violations to a person's body, and that prevent individuals from asserting themselves as the experts of their lives. While self-declaration, reproductive autonomy, and clear informed consent should always be the highest standard, we continue to see that these basic human rights are simply not afforded to all.

Background: Women military service members (SMs) are more likely to have posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) related to sexual assault, highlighting a need for the development and validation of therapies. A new exposure-based therapy called motion-assisted, multi-modal memory desensitization and reconsolidation (3MDR) uses participant-chosen music and images and an eye movement (EM) task in a virtual environment. Motion-assisted, multi-modal memory desensitization and reconsolidation has shown effectiveness in treating treatment-resistant male veterans; thus, this paper focuses expressly on the utility of 3MDR in female study participants, who were 50% of the full study population.
