Liver cancer, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), remains a global health challenge with limited therapeutic options for advanced stages. Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), the first-line treatment for intermediate and advanced-stage HCC, faces limitations such as incomplete tumor embolization and systemic toxicity. This review synthesizes recent advancements in nanotechnology to address these challenges, focusing on nanoparticles (NPs) as embolic agents, drug carriers, and imaging contrast agents.

DECE-Net: a dual-path encoder network with contour enhancement for pneumonia lesion segmentation.

Purpose: Early-stage pneumonia is not easily detected, leading to many patients missing the optimal treatment window. This is because segmenting lesion areas from CT images presents several challenges, including low-intensity contrast between the lesion and normal areas, as well as variations in the shape and size of lesion areas. To overcome these challenges, we propose a segmentation network called DECE-Net to segment the pneumonia lesions from CT images automatically.

Background: The HBV core protein (HBC) is crucial for the progression of HCC. WD repeat-containing (WDR) 46 (WDR46) is implicated in the development of different tumors. Nevertheless, whether WDR46 is controlled by HBC to drive hepatocarcinogenesis remains unclear.

Impact of ursodeoxycholic acid therapy in autoimmune liver disease patients with COVID-19 and its clinical prognosis.

To explore the impact of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) on severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and clinical outcomes in patients with autoimmune liver disease (AILD). Patients diagnosed with AILD were enrolled and divided into a UDCA group and a non-UDCA group based on whether they received UDCA treatment. Relevant data were collected regarding AILD diagnosis, treatment, biochemical indicators, and imaging examination.

Omniview of three-dimensional ultrasound for prospective evaluation of extrathyroidal extension of differentiated thyroid cancer.

Background: Differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) accounts for the majority of thyroid cancers. The preoperative diagnosis of extrathyroidal extension (ETE) in DTC patients is highly important. However, two-dimensional ultrasound (2D-US) has several limitations in diagnosing ETE.

Methods: Data from all MASLD patients, diagnosed by liver biopsy, were enrolled and divided into MASLD alone group and MASLD with MS group. They were subdivided into hyperuricemia group and normal SU group to find correlation between SU/IR and MASLD in patients with MS and independent risk factors for MASLD.

A method for extracting corneal reflection images from multiple eye images.

The incident light reflected from the cornea is rich in information about the human surroundings, and these reflected rays are imaged by the camera, which can be used for research on human consciousness and gaze analysis, and produce certain help in the fields of psychology, human computer interaction and disease diagnosis. However, limited by the low corneal reflection ability, when a high-definition camera captures corneal reflecting rays, a large amount of color and texture interference from the iris can seriously contaminate the corneal reflection images, resulting in low usability and ubiquity of corneal reflection images. In this paper, we propose a corneal reflection image extraction method with multiple eye images as input.

[The Role of NK Cells in Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Micro-Transplantation for Acute Myeloid leukemia].

Objective: To explore the role of NK cells in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell micro-transplantation(MST) in the treatment of patients with acute myeloid leukemia(AML).

Methods: Data from 93 AML patients treated with MST at our center from 2013-2018 were retrospectively analyzed. The induction regimen was anthracycline and cytarabine combined with peripheral blood stem cells transplantation mobilization by granulocyte colony stimulating factor (GPBSC), followed by 2-4 courses of intensive treatment with medium to high doses of cytarabine combined with GPBSC after achieving complete remission (CR).

The main objectives of neuromorphic engineering are the research, modeling, and implementation of neural functioning in the human brain. We provide a hardware solution that can replicate such a nature-inspired system by merging multiple scientific domains and is based on neural cell processes. This work provides a modified version of the original Fitz-Hugh Nagumo (FHN) neuron using a simple 2 term called Hybrid Piece-Wised Base-2 Model (HPWBM), which accurately reproduces numerous patterns of the original neuron model.

[Analysis on Cellular Immune Function Recovery after HLA Mismatched Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Micro-Transp- lantation in Elderly AML Patients].

Objective: To investigate the recovery of cellular immunity in elderly patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) after micro-transplantation (MST) and the changes of cellular immunity during relapse, as well as their clinical significance.

Methods: A total of 41 elderly AML patients who received MST treatment in a single center and 25 healthy elderly people were included. Immune function among different age groups in normal population was compared.

It is reported that the initial age at first sexual behavior is younger than decades ago, which implies that the risky sexual behavior among teenagers may be on the rise. However, it is unclear about the changes of sexual knowledge and behaviors in recent years.

[Evaluation of Extrathyroidal Extension of Papillary Thyroid Microcarcinoma With Three-Dimensional Tomographic Ultrasound Imaging].

Objective To evaluate extrathyroidal extension (ETE) in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) with three-dimensional tomographic ultrasound imaging (3D-TUI). Methods A total of 97 thyroid nodules of 79 patients with PTMC treated in PUMC Hospital from February 2016 to January 2018 were included in this study.Two ultrasound experts performed independent blinded assessment of the relationship between thyroid nodules and thyroid capsule by two-dimensional ultrasound (2D-US) and 3D-TUI.

DARMF-UNet: A dual-branch attention-guided refinement network with multi-scale features fusion U-Net for gland segmentation.

Accurate gland segmentation is critical in determining adenocarcinoma. Automatic gland segmentation methods currently suffer from challenges such as less accurate edge segmentation, easy mis-segmentation, and incomplete segmentation. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a novel gland segmentation network Dual-branch Attention-guided Refinement and Multi-scale Features Fusion U-Net (DARMF-UNet), which fuses multi-scale features using deep supervision.

However, it also imposes challenges on diagnosis and potential surgery due to the narrow observation perspective and limited perception dimension. MFTR-Net: A Multi-Level Features Network with Targeted Regularization for Large-Scale Point Cloud Classification.

There are some irregular and disordered noise points in large-scale point clouds, and the accuracy of existing large-scale point cloud classification methods still needs further improvement. This paper proposes a network named MFTR-Net, which considers the local point cloud's eigenvalue calculation. The eigenvalues of 3D point cloud data and the 2D eigenvalues of projected point clouds on different planes are calculated to express the local feature relationship between adjacent point clouds.

One of the most common routes of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is mother-to-child transmission (MTCT). Approximately 6.4 million children under the age of five have chronic HBV infections worldwide.

Hepatitis B core-related antigen serum levels may be a predictor of acute flare of chronic hepatitis B among pregnant women in the immune-tolerant phase of chronic HBV infection after short-course antiviral therapy.

Background: Studies have shown acute flares of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) might be related to immunologic changes that occur during pregnancy. However, the indicators for predicting acute flares of CHB among pregnant women still need further study. We aimed to distinguish the relevance between serum levels of HBcrAg and acute flares of CHB in pregnant women in the immune-tolerant phase of chronic HBV infection after short-course antiviral therapy.

Background: To investigate the changes of natural killer (NK) cell phenotype in the interferon alpha (IFN-α) treatment of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and its relationship with clinical indicators.

Methods: The CHB patients who did not receive any antiviral treatment were set as initial treatment group and used pegylated interferon alpha (PEG-IFN α). Peripheral blood samples were collected at baseline, 4 weeks, and 12-24 weeks.

Objective: Precise assessment of liver inflammation in untreated hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg)-positive patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection can determine when to initiate antiviral therapy. The aim of this study was to develop and validate a nomogram model for the prediction of non-minimal liver inflammation based on liver pathological injuries combined with age and alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), HBeAg, and HBV DNA quantification.

Methods: We retrospectively included 735 HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients with ALT < 80 U/L as the primary cohort and prospectively enrolled 196 patients as the validation cohort.
