KIF16B is a member of the kinesin-3 family of motor proteins, which facilitates processes such as vesicle transport, microtubule dynamics, and organelle function during mitosis. In this study, we explored the role of KIF16B in meiosis. Our findings indicate that KIF16B is involved in the meiotic G2-M transition and spindle assembly in oocytes.

The problem of L-gain analysis and anti-windup (AW) fault-tolerant controller design of a class of time-varying delay discrete-time switched systems with actuator saturation and external disturbances is investigated by using the multiple Lyapunov functionals method. Firstly, for each subsystem, we construct an AW fault-tolerant controller consisting of a dynamic state feedback (DSF) controller and an AW compensator, such that the closed-loop system with actuator faults can meet the disturbance attenuation performance index and ensure that the state trajectories of the closed-loop system are bounded under the action of external disturbances. Then, the problem of estimating the allowable interference capacity is transformed into a constrained optimization problem.

Adequate vitamin D is essential for the health of both the mother and fetus, and it can be influenced by environmental factors. However, research on the associations between greenness exposure and vitamin D concentrations during pregnancy is limited. This retrospective birth cohort study, conducted from 2014 to 2018, assessed the greenness of residences using the satellite-derived normalised difference vegetation index (NDVI).

Background: Radon, the most common natural radioactive gas in the environment, is widely regarded as the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. However, conventional measurement techniques for radon concentration analysis are relatively lengthy and susceptible to interference from other environmental factors. Therefore, it is necessary to develop innovative and sustainable methods for the accurate and rapid analysis of radon concentrations, which has notable importance in the field of public health.

Objective: Previous research has revealed a positive correlation between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and cardiovascular diseases, but the causal relationship is unclear. This study applies Mendelian randomization to examine whether RA causally contributes to the likelihood of various cardiovascular diseases, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, and atrial fibrillation.

Methods: Using genome-wide association data, we conducted a univariable MR (UVMR) analysis to evaluate the causal impact of RA on CVD, primarily utilizing the inverse variance weighted method.

FeO nanoparticles (NPs) have emerged as pioneering nanozymes with applications in clinical diagnosis, environmental protection and biosensing. However, it is currently limited by insufficient catalytic activity due to poor electron transfer. In this study, we synthesized electron-rich-Zr-doped defect-rich FeO NPs (ZrFeO) using a one-pot solvothermal method.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the role of SPI in the development of trichomes, specialized epidermal cells in plants, highlighting its influence on cytoskeleton organization and cell shape.
  • Researchers found that SPI affects microtubule stability during trichome branching; loss of SPI leads to abnormalities in trichome structures and sensitivity to microtubule-disrupting drugs.
  • The interaction between SPI and another protein, ZWI, shows that they work together to regulate microtubule dynamics, further influencing trichome morphology and overall plant cell shape development.

Uranium is a nuclear fuel but also a hazardous contaminant due to its radioactivity and chemical toxicity. To prevent and mitigate its potential threat, the accurate monitoring of ultratrace uranium (orders of magnitude of pg g) in practical environmental samples has become an important scientific problem. To meet this challenge, we developed an efficient electrochemiluminescence (ECL) UO detection device by a novel dual-enhancement mechanism.

Objective: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic systemic disease characterized by inflammatory synovitis, and genetic factors play the greatest role in RA. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between Toll-like receptor 10(TLR10) gene polymorphisms and susceptibility to RA.

Methods: A total of 271 patients with RA and an equal number of healthy controls were included, and the TLR10 rs2101521, rs10004195 and rs11725309 loci were genotyped by time-of-flight mass spectrometry.

Droplet transmission is the primary infection route for respiratory diseases like COVID-19 and influenza, but small and low-cost wearable droplet detection devices are a significant challenge. Herein, a respiratory droplet micro-sensor based on graphene oxide quantum dots (GOQDs) assembled onto SiO microspheres by the nebulized natural deposition is presented. Benefiting from the energy dissipation of the microsphere to droplets, the sensor can detect droplets as far as 2 m from coughing.

Vanadium-based compounds are fantastic cathodes for aqueous zinc metal batteries due to the high specific capacity and excellent rate capability. Nevertheless, the practical application has been hampered by the dissolution of vanadium in traditional aqueous electrolytes owing to the strong polarity of water molecules. Herein, we propose a hybrid electrolyte made of Zn(ClO) salt in tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether (G4) and HO solvents to upgrade the cycle life of Zn//KVO battery.

This paper proposed a circular flexible spherical joint to reduce the processing difficulty and manufacturing cost, and design a six-dimensional force sensor based on it. This paper analyzes the influence of the structural parameters of the flexible spherical joints on the accuracy of the six-dimensional force sensor by comparing the force mapping matrix of flexible spherical and ideal spherical joints. As the force mapping matrix is related to the stiffness matrix, the stiffness matrix of a six-dimensional force sensor based on a circular flexible spherical joint and the force mapping matrix of the generalized external force acting on the sensor was derived.
