Polymeric materials play a crucial role in thermal management because of their balanced mechanical and insulating properties. However, when combined with two-dimensional (2D) nanosheets, their low thermal conductivity is limited by interfacial thermal resistance (ITR). Although 2D nanosheets can improve the thermal performance of composites, aggregation and ITR are still major obstacles.

Despite advances in the development of direct KRAS inhibitors, KRAS-mutant cancers continue to exhibit resistance to the currently available therapies. Here, we identified REGγ as a mutant KRAS-associated factor that enhanced REGγ transcription through the KRAS intermediate NRF2, suggesting that the REGγ-proteasome is a potential target for pan-KRAS inhibitor development. We elucidated a mechanism involving the KRAS/NRF2/REGγ regulatory axis, which links activated KRAS to the ATP- and ubiquitin-independent proteasome.

Background: Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) comprises a group of heterogeneous and aggressive haematological malignancies with unsatisfactory prognoses and limited treatment options. Treatments targeting B-cell lymphoma-2 (BCL-2) with venetoclax have been approved for patients with AML, and venetoclax-based drug combinations are becoming the standard of care for older patients unfit for intensive chemotherapy. However, the therapeutic duration of either single or combination strategies is limited, and the development of resistance seems inevitable.

The kagome metal FeSn consists of alternating layers of kagome-lattice FeSn and honeycomb Sn and exhibits great potential for applications in future low-energy electronics and spintronics because of an ideal combination of topological phases and high-temperature magnetic ordering. Robust synthesis methods for ultrathin FeSn films, as well as an understanding of their air stability, are crucial for its development and long-term operation in future devices. In this work, we realize large-area, <10 nm thick, epitaxial FeSn thin films and explore the oxidation process synchrotron-based photoelectron spectroscopy using oxygen and water dosing, as well as air exposure.

Endogenous opioid antinociception is a self-regulatory mechanism that reduces chronic pain, but its underlying circuit mechanism remains largely unknown. Here, we showed that endogenous opioid antinociception required the activation of mu-opioid receptors (MORs) in GABAergic neurons of the central amygdala nucleus (CEA) in a persistent-hyperalgesia mouse model. Pharmacogenetic suppression of these CEA neurons, which mimics the effect of MOR activation, alleviated the persistent hyperalgesia.

In this work, 2D ferromagnetic MGeTe (MGT, M = Ni/Fe) nanosheets with rich atomic Te vacancies (2D-MGT) are demonstrated as efficient OER electrocatalyst via a general mechanical exfoliation strategy. X-ray absorption spectra (XAS) and scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM) results validate the dominant presence of metal-O moieties and rich Te vacancies, respectively. The formed Te vacancies are active for the adsorption of OH* and O* species while the metal-O moieties promote the O* and OOH* adsorption, contributing synergistically to the faster oxygen evolution kinetics.

Article Synopsis
  • The Quantum Anomalous Hall (QAH) insulators enable resistance-free charge transport via special edge states, but current systems face limitations with topological protection, especially at higher temperatures.
  • A study using a scanning tunneling microscope reveals that the exchange gap in the QAH insulator 5-layer MnBiTe varies significantly, with fluctuations linked to magnetic disorder rather than surface defects, compromising the stability of these edge states.
  • Applying a small magnetic field can restore the exchange gap in regions affected by disorder, highlighting the importance of managing magnetic disorder to utilize the unique properties of QAH insulators effectively.
