The deformability of red blood cells (RBCs) is critical for microvascular circulation and is impaired in hematological disorders such as thalassemia, a prevalent public health concern in Guangdong, China. While microfluidics enable high-precision deformability assessment, current studies lack standardization in deformation metrics and rarely investigate post-deformation recovery dynamics. This study introduces an automated microfluidic platform for systematically evaluating RBC deformability in healthy and thalassemic individuals.

Rice blast disease, caused by Magnaporthe oryzae, significantly threatens global rice yields. The Pmk1-MAPK signaling pathway is crucial for the infection process, but the precise regulatory mechanisms of Pmk1 remain unclear. Our research reveals that sumoylation of Pmk1 is vital for its infectious function.

Specifically, a dual-channel demodulation system for distributed acoustic sensing is designed using MCF. The responses of different cores in MCF are almost consistent under external acoustic pressure, while their self-noise is inconsistent.

Therefore, we conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the mortality and associated risk factors in hospitalised adult patients with tetanus.
Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis.
Histone lysine β-hydroxybutyrylation (Kbhb) is a novel type of histone acylation whose prevalence and function remain unclear in plants. Here, we systematically characterized H3K9bhb in rice (Oryza sativa) and found that it is enriched at transcription start site (TSS) regions and serves as an active mark for gene expression. We demonstrated functional differences between H3K9bhb and the well-studied H3K9ac histone modification, particularly in regulating genes involved in the rice immune response.

The role of HS and its molecular targets in fungi, however, remains unclear. Here we show that HS, synthesized by cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE1) in the rice blast fungus Magnaporthe oryzae, is essential for optimal fungal infection.

Novel fungicides are crucial for managing plant diseases. , a major threat to global rice production, serves as a model plant pathogen. Nucleoside compounds, known for their low toxicity and unique mechanisms, show potential for controlling plant pathogenic fungi but remain underexplored.

By single-cell transcriptome analysis, we characterize the bone marrow immune microenvironment in patients with T-ALL, identifying 13 major cell clusters. These patients exhibited abnormally expanded hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and granulocyte-monocyte progenitors (GMPs), immunosuppressive traits in CD4 T, CD8 T, and natural killer (NK) cells.

Background: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a highly heterogeneous disease with poor therapeutic outcomes and overall prognosis, particularly in c-Mpl+ AML. , a proto-oncogene, is expressed at significantly higher levels in AML compared to normal human tissue cells. This study aimed to develop a type of targeted exosomes (Exos) capable of delivering anticancer drugs directly to c-Mpl+ AML cells.

Objectives: Rhizoctonia solani AG-3 is the casual pathogen of tobacco target spot, a serious fungal disease of tobacco that severely decreases yield and quality. To examine the pathogenic mechanisms of this fungus, it is crucial to understand its genetics. The objective of this work was to generate the first fine mapping of a R.

Introduction: Recurrent pleomorphic adenoma (PA) in the submandibular gland is a rare tumor that may be misdiagnosed as an inflammatory lesion. The imaging manifestations of the submandibular gland recurrent PA are unclear, with only three case reports reporting CT and MRI imaging, respectively. Our report is the first case report that comprehensively describes the imaging manifestations of recurrent PA in the submandibular gland.

This study uncovers the role of H4K8hib as an active epigenetic mark in rice that positively correlates with gene expression and enhances immune responses. Furthermore, HDA705 was identified as the key enzyme regulating H4K8hib. Mutation of HDA705 led to hyper-H4K8hib, which in turn activated the expression of defense-related genes and enhanced rice resistance to pathogens.

Recent research highlights the essential role of PDGF in the modulation of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs), megakaryocytes/platelets, and thrombopoietin (TPO) synthesis within the bone marrow microenvironment. PDGF directly stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of HSPCs while also inhibiting apoptosis.

Pediatric acquired severe aplastic anemia (SAA), a prevalent non-malignant hematological disorder, presents significant therapeutic challenges and carries considerable risks. Despite substantial progress in immunosuppressive therapy (IST) and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) in recent years, the protracted treatment duration, substantial costs, and significant disparities in long-term survival outcomes among patients remain problematic. Identifying predictors of treatment response before therapy initiation is crucial for optimal clinical decision-making and complication prevention.

The identification effector targets and characterization of their functions are crucial for understanding pathogen infection mechanisms and components of plant immunity. Here, we identify the effector UgsL, a ustilaginoidin synthetase with a key role in regulating virulence of the rice false smut fungus Ustilaginoidea virens. Heterologous expression of UgsL in rice (Oryza sativa) enhances plant susceptibility to multiple pathogens, and host-induced gene silencing of UgsL enhances plant resistance to U.

Here, we show that the deubiquitinase USP7 promotes CSR to immunoglobulin A (IgA) and suppresses unscheduled IgG switching in mature B cells independent of its role in DNA damage repair, but through modulating switch region germline transcription. USP7 depletion impairs Sα transcription, leading to abnormal activation of Sγ germline transcription and increased interaction with the CSR center via loop extrusion for unscheduled IgG switching.
