Metastasis and immune escape play crucial roles in the progression of colon cancer. Current chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments have limited effectiveness in reversing the immunologically cold microenvironment. Therefore, it is essential to investigate efficient strategies to enhance the antitumor immunity.

Keratinocytes, the primary cells in epidermis, play a pivotal role in orchestrating the UV-induced immunosuppressive response by releasing platelet-activating factor (PAF) upon UV exposure. Adopting a paradigm shift that transforms a known health hazard as a potential therapeutic asset, a novel therapeutic strategy is set out to investigate for inflammatory conditions by leveraging immunosuppressive properties of UV-irradiated keratinocytes.

Cold stress is one of the major disasters that severely affect agricultural production. Heat shock protein 40 (HSP40) and BURP proteins are involved in the cold stress response. However, the physiological and molecular mechanisms of heat shock proteins and BURP family proteins regulating seed germination at low temperature are rarely reported.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFImmune evasion and metastasis are the leading causes of poor prognosis in triple-negative breast cancer treatment. Since current standard immunotherapies have limited efficacy due to immunologically cold microenvironment, it is crucial to explore new strategies to sensitize anticancer immune response. In this study, it is found that incorporating β-lapachone-based oxidation therapy with CUDC101-initiated epigenetic regulation results in synergistic antitumor effects and potent immune activation.

Methods: The PTC/EBV-associated genes were obtained by intersection and further screen out hub genes to construct a prognostic model. The relationship between PTC/EBV-related genes and core genes and immune infiltration was analyzed, respectively.
Melanoma is the most aggressive type of skin cancers. Traditional chemotherapy and radiotherapy have limited effectiveness and can lead to systemic side effects. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a photoresponsive cancer therapy based on photosensitizers to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) to eradicate tumor cells.

Repeated-measures ANOVA was performed to evaluate the behavioral and fNIRS data of the mental rotation test.

Methods: Experiment 1: A total of 147 athletes were selected for the paper-and-pencil mental rotation test (MRT). The athletes were separated according to three sport types: open high-spatial (OH) sport, closed high-spatial (CH) sport, closed low-spatial (CL) sport.
Understanding the harmful effects of microplastics (MPs) and their derivatives is a priority in environmental study. However, the characteristics and toxic effects of leachates from MPs at the molecular-level remain unclear. Herein, two conventional commercial MPs [polystyrene (PS) and polyethylene (PE)] and two biodegradable commercial MPs [polylactic acid (PLA) and polybutylene adipate-co-terephthalate/PLA (PBAT/PLA)] were subjected to leaching under ultraviolet-irradiation, and their leachates were investigated.

Low temperatures cause serious threat to rice seed emergence, which has become one of the main limiting factors in the production of direct seeding rice. It is of great importance to study the genes controlling low-temperature tolerance during seed germination and to mine the possible regulatory mechanism for developing new rice varieties with immense low-temperature germination ability. In the current research study, two types of mutants of and , derived from the WT (wild type) ZH11, were used for the analysis of low-temperature germinability.

Submergence stress challenges direct seeding in rice cultivation. In this study, we identified a heat shock protein, , with a DnaJ domain, which can regulate the length of rice coleoptiles under flooded conditions. Through bioinformatics analyses, we identified -regulatory elements in its promoter, making it responsive to abiotic stresses, such as hypoxia or anoxia.

However, immunosuppression in the tumor microenvironment (TME) restrains cytotoxic T-cell infiltration and limits the efficacy of immunotherapies in solid tumors. Therefore, tactics for enhancing antigen cross-presentation and reshaping the TME need to be explored to enhance the activity of NVs.

Conventional photodynamic therapy (PDT) in cancer treatment needs to utilize oxygen to produce reactive oxygen species to eliminate malignant tissues. However, oxygen consumption in tumor microenvironment exacerbates cancer cell hypoxia and may promote vasculature angiogenesis. Since the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway plays a vital role in endothelial cell proliferation and fibrosis, mTOR inhibitor drugs hold the potential to reverse hypoxia-evoked angiogenesis for improved PDT effect.

Track smoothness has become an important factor in the safe operation of high-speed trains. In order to ensure the safety of high-speed operations, studies on track smoothness detection methods are constantly improving. This paper presents a track irregularity identification method based on CNN-Bi-LSTM and predicts track irregularity through car body acceleration detection, which is easy to collect and can be obtained by passenger trains, so the model proposed in this paper provides an idea for the development of track irregularity identification method based on conventional vehicles.

Streaming potential is a type of stress-generated potential in bone that affects the electrical environment of osteocytes and may play a role in bone remodeling. Because the electrical environment around osteocytes has been difficult to measure experimentally until now, a numerical solid-liquid-streaming potential coupling method was proposed to analyze the streaming potential generated by bone deformation in the lacunae and canaliculus network (LCN) of the bone. Using this method, the cellular shear stress caused by liquid flow on the osteocyte surface was first calculated, and the results were consistent with those reported in the literature.

Purpose: The promotion of angiogenesis is an effective strategy for skin wound repair. While the transplantation of endothelial cells has shown promise in vascularization, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Recent studies have suggested that transplanted cells undergo apoptosis in a short period and release apoptotic extracellular vesicles (ApoEVs) that may have therapeutic potential.

Ferroptosis as programmed cell death received considerable attention in cancer research. Recently, studies have associated ferroptosis with photodynamic therapy (PDT) because PDT promotes glutathione (GSH) deletion, glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) degradation, and lipid peroxide accumulation. However, PDT-induced ferroptosis may be potentially prevented by ferroptosis suppressor protein 1 (FSP1).
