Acute liver failure (ALF) is a life-threatening condition associated with macrophage-mediated inflammatory responses. Effective therapies and drugs are still lacking to date. Here, we reveal that a derivative of xanthohumol, CAM12203, alleviates lipopolysaccharide (LPS) + d-galactosamine (D-GalN)-induced ALF through limiting macrophage-mediated inflammation, with the most significant impact on interleukin-1 (IL-1) transcription.

Metabolic reprogramming is a hallmark of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), with enhanced lipogenesis playing a critical role in tumor progression. ATP citrate lyase (ACLY), linking carbohydrate metabolism to lipid biosynthesis, has emerged as a promising therapeutic target in HCC. Herein, we report the development of a series of novel tridentate alkenyl diacid derivatives as potent ACLY inhibitors.

This study examines how social support boosts positive coping styles in disadvantaged breadwinner mothers in a Chinese province. We analyzed data from 380 program beneficiaries using hypothesis testing and stepwise regression. Results indicate that mothers' perceptions and evaluations of social support enhance their coping abilities and foster social trust, leading to improved coping styles.

Pro-inflammatory photodynamic therapy (PDT) holds immense potential to ignite robust and long-lasting systemic anti-tumor immune responses. However, the limited penetration depth of conventional ultra violet (UV)-visible irradiation and the tumor hypoxia microenvironment significantly constrain the efficacy of immune-regulatory PDT. Here, a mitochondria-targeting enhanced nanoplatform (NZ) is reported, activated by near-infrared (NIR) light-driven PDT, to address these challenges and amplify systemic anti-tumor immunity.

Di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is an environmental endocrine disruptor that can induce insulin resistance (IR), a risk factor for type 2 diabetes. This study explored the molecular mechanism of DEHP-induced IR by network toxicology and cellular experiments. We identified eight core targets (CASP3, CTNNB1, TNF, ITGB1, PRKCA, ACE2, EGFR, NCOR2), and AGE-RAGE signaling pathway, insulin resistance, lipid and atherosclerosis, cell adhesion, PI3K-Akt and other key signaling pathways related to IR.

This comprehensive review paper delves into the application and recent advancements of molecular dynamics (MD) simulation techniques in the design and optimization of polymers for oil displacement. Initially, the paper outlines the pivotal role of polymers in oil displacement, particularly highlighting the challenges associated with their stability and rheological property optimization under high-temperature and high-salinity conditions. Subsequently, it meticulously introduces the theoretical foundation of MD simulations, the selection of simulation parameters, and the emerging trends in the integration of machine learning with MD simulations.

The first comprehensive phytochemical investigation of Glochidion philippicum roots resulted in the isolation and characterization of seven new ent-cleistanthane-type diterpenoids, glochiphenols A-G (1-7), along with two known analogs (8 and 9). Compounds 1-6 all feature a rare alkynyl group, with 1-3 representing highly aromatized 20-nor-ent-cleistanthane diterpenoids. Their structures were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic analysis, and absolute configurations were established via electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculations.

It is well-established that Largemouth bass ranavirus (LMBRaV) induces viral ulcerative syndrome, a highly transmissible and lethal viral disease afflicting largemouth bass aquaculture. Given the urgent need for available prevention and control methods, this study evaluated the antiviral activities of fifteen naturally occurring compounds derived from herbal medicines against LMBRaV using an in vitro cell model. Andrographolide (Andro) was one of the substances that was evaluated and showed highly effective anti-LMBRaV activity of a 99.

Background: Late-Onset Hypogonadism (LOH) is a prevalent age-related condition in men, characterized by a decline in testosterone (T) and associated symptoms.

Objective: This study explored the mechanism of T deficiency in LOH.

Methods: Male SD rats were raised until 20 months of age in order to establish the LOH models.

Ten enantiomeric pairs of meroterpenoids were isolated from Rhododendron capitatum Maxim. Among them, (+/-)-capitanoids A-F, (+)-ranhuadujuanine B, (-)-rubiginosin G, and (-)-anthopogochromene B are undescribed compounds. Their structures were fully established by spectroscopic techniques, X-ray crystallographic analyses, modified Mosher's method, and ECD calculation.

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) represents the predominant cause of mortality and morbidity globally. Given the established role of hypercholesterolemia as a significant risk factor for ASCVD, the discovery of new lipid-lowering medications is of paramount importance. ATP citrate lyase (ACLY) is a crucial enzyme in cellular metabolism, providing acetyl-CoA as the building block for the biosynthesis of fatty acids and cholesterol.

Background: Noninvasive myocardial work (MW), which incorporates myocardial deformation and blood pressure, can be used to quantitatively evaluate left ventricular (LV) systolic function in children undergoing chemotherapy. However, the trajectories of MW indices (MWIs) in children during anthracycline-based chemotherapy remain unclear.

Objective: To investigate the longitudinal trajectories of MWIs during anthracycline-based chemotherapy and compare the relative changes between MWIs and conventional echocardiographic parameters.

Background: Evidence on whether systemic inflammation mediates the association between diet and depression and anxiety is lacking.

Methods: We analyzed 55,799 participants from the UK Biobank, assessing dietary inflammatory index (DII) based on 3 days' 24-hour dietary recall. Systemic inflammation was represented by systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and systemic inflammation response index (SIRI).
