An additive-free trifluoromethylation-heteroarylation of enamides with trifluoromethyl heteroaryl sulfones via EDA photochemistry is reported. Under visible-light irradiation, diverse enamides and sulfones undergo efficient difunctionalization to afford CF-heteroaryl amides in moderate to excellent yields, without the need for photocatalysts or additives. Mechanistic studies support the formation of a photoexcited EDA complex that triggers C-S bond cleavage, generating CF and heteroaryl anions.

Introduction: Loquat is a native plant in China that blooms at low temperatures in early winter, and the floral fragrance volatiles from the petals and stamens of loquats' flowers are attractive to wild pollinators like Chinese honeybees. Thus, it was necessary to reveal the biosynthesis of floral fragrance and hormone regulation involved in the insect pollination of loquats' flowers.

Methods: Here, the volatile contents of petals and stamens were significantly higher than those of other parts of the loquat flower through the analysis of GC, and a key loquat flowers' compound 4-methoxybenzaldehyde has the highest content among all volatile components.

Heart failure (HF) has emerged as one of the foremost global health threats due to its intricate pathophysiological mechanisms and multifactorial etiology. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-induced cell death represents a novel form of regulated cell deaths, marked by cellular energy depletion and metabolic dysregulation stemming from excessive ATP accumulation, identifying its uniqueness compared to other cell death processes modalities such as programmed cell death and necrosis. Growing evidence suggests that ATP-induced cell death (AICD) is predominantly governed by various biological pathways, including energy metabolism, redox homeostasis and intracellular calcium equilibrium.
