Background: Presacral tumors are rare entities with heterogeneous pathology including malignant potential. Due to nonspecific symptoms mimicking common anorectal diseases, misdiagnosis remains a major challenge that may delay treatment and worsen prognosis, particularly for malignant variants. This study analyzes diagnostic pitfalls and surgical outcomes in a large single-center cohort.

Inspired by the remarkable buoyancy and collective adaptability of fire ant rafts, this study presents magnetic composite micro-floaters (MCMs) capable of stable flotation at air-water interfaces-a key advancement for magnetic microrobotic swarms in fluid environments. The system overcomes the intrinsic sinking tendency of high-density NdFeB microparticles through bioinspired surface engineering. MCMS are fabricated via a solvent-exchange phase inversion process, encapsulating NdFeB cores with hydrophobic polycaprolactone (PCL) and engineered surface roughness.

In immature fruits, chlorophyll facilitates photosynthesis, thereby supplying energy for growth. In contrast, chlorophyll degradation is an integral feature of ripening in most tomato varieties.

In this study, we conducted a metabolomic analysis that revealed both the total anthocyanin content and the relative abundance of individual anthocyanin species are critical contributors of the color variation observed between yellow- and dark red-fruited cultivars. Integrating transcriptomic data with metabolic profiles, we identified a gene module central to anthocyanin biosynthesis, with PavMYB.

Lipid reprogramming is a core strategy for malignant tumors to drive progression and invasion through reshaping immunity, stromal and vascular ecology in microenvironment. However, the regulatory mechanism of SDC4 in lipid reprogramming has not yet been elucidated.

Improving fruit growth and quality without compromising yield is a highly sought-after goal in crop breeding. Here, we report that an EAR motif-containing transcription factor SlPLT6 controls the onset of fruit ripening and quality traits in tomato. knockout caused precocious ripening initiation and enhanced fruit qualities without penalizing yield in two tomato cultivars.

Flexible pressure sensors are critical for advanced systems such as electronic skins and human-machine interaction. Among them, ionic capacitive pressure sensors have attracted widespread attention due to their exceptional flexibility and sensitivity. However, variations in ambient temperature, humidity, and operating circuit frequency significantly degrade the measurement accuracy of ionic capacitive pressure sensors and increase the complexity of subsequent signal processing.

Auricular acupoint stimulation offers a potential adjunctive approach through neuromodulation, yet its clinical efficacy and mechanistic role in slow-transit constipation remain unestablished. MATERIAL AND METHODS Sixty patients diagnosed with slow-transit constipation, ranging in age from 40 to 75 years, were randomly allocated into 2 distinct cohorts: a study group and a control group.

Dissecting the transcriptional regulatory network modulating flavonoid metabolism is the first step to improve the nutritional quality of tomato fruits through molecular breeding technology. In this study, we identified a transcription factor SlbHLH95 as a key regulator in flavonoid metabolism through analysis of the MicroTom Metabolic Network (MMN) data set.

Despite tomato being rich in carotenoids, the roles of OR proteins in tomato have been overlooked. Herein, we characterized two OR genes in tomato, SlOR and SlOR-like, which are highly expressed in stems, leaves, and flowers, with their proteins being localized to chloroplasts.

Objectives: This investigation aimed to evaluate the efficacy, key active ingredients, and mechanisms of Zuoqing San (ZQS), a traditional Chinese medicine formula, in managing sigmoid ulcerative colitis (SUC).
Methods: A cohort of 126 participants was recruited and treated with ZQS at a daily dosage of 100 mL for 12 weeks. The primary endpoint was the percentage of subjects achieving favorable treatment outcomes.
Inspired by counterintuitive water "swelling" ability of the hydrophobic moss of the genus Sphagnum (Peat moss), we prepared a hydrophobic pseudo-hydrogel (HPH), composed of a pure hydrophobic silicone elastomer with a tailored porous structure. In contrast to conventional hydrogels, HPH achieves absorption-induced volume expansion through surface tension induced elastocapillarity, presenting an unexpected absorption-induced volume expansion capability in hydrophobic matrices. We adopt a theoretical framework elucidating the interplay of surface tension induced elastocapillarity, providing insights into the absorption-induced volume expansion behavior.

The underlying pathogenesis of CD is multifaceted, with complex interactions between genetic predisposition, environmental triggers, and abnormalities within the immune system. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) have gained significant attention as a novel component in the pathogenesis of CD.

The significance of epigenetic changes, particularly the impact of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA modification on fruit ripening and quality formation, has been largely overlooked. We monitored m6A levels and gene expression changes in kiwifruit at four different stages using LC-MS/MS, MeRIP, RNA-seq, and validated the function of AcALKBH10 through heterologous transgenic expression in tomato.

In the context of Crohn's disease (CD), an array of novel lncRNAs has been identified in the plasma and intestinal tissues of afflicted individuals, suggesting a dualistic influence on the disease progression, either exacerbating or mitigating its course. Current research has demonstrated the involvement of lncRNAs in competitive endogenous RNA, the inflammation process, epithelial barrier function, gut microbiota imbalance, and epigenetic regulation.
