Article Synopsis
  • - CKD is marked by fibrosis and inflammation in the kidneys, with a particular focus on a type of cell death called PANoptosis, which involves interactions among various programmed cell death pathways, although its role in CKD is not fully understood.
  • - Researchers utilized bioinformatics to analyze gene expressions from a specific dataset, identifying 57 PANoptosis-related genes and selecting nine crucial hub genes, which were further validated using additional datasets and experimental techniques.
  • - Key findings include two hub genes, FOS and PTGS2, potentially linked to the progression of PANoptosis-related CKD, along with a common miRNA and three transcription factors that may influence this process; a drug-gene network revealed several drugs that target these hub genes

Hydrogen sulfide (H S) performs a crucial role in plant development and abiotic stress responses by interacting with other signalling molecules. However, the synergistic involvement of H S and rhizobia in photosynthetic carbon (C) metabolism in soybean (Glycine max) under nitrogen (N) deficiency has been largely overlooked. Therefore, we scrutinised how H S drives photosynthetic C fixation, utilisation, and accumulation in soybean-rhizobia symbiotic systems.

Trimethylamine N-oxide(TMAO), a metabolite of gut microbiota, is closely associated with chronic kidney disease(CKD). It can aggravate the kidney injury and promote the occurrence of complications of CKD mainly by inducing renal fibroblast activation, vascular endothelial inflammation, macrophage foaming, platelet hyperreactivity, and inhibition of reverse cholesterol transport. Thus it is of great significance for clinical treatment of CKD to regulate circulating TMAO and alleviate its induced body damage.

Hydrogen sulfide (H S) is emerging as an important signalling molecule that regulates plant growth and abiotic stress responses. However, the roles of H S in symbiotic nitrogen (N) assimilation and remobilization have not been characterized. Therefore, we examined how H S influences the soybean (Glycine max)/rhizobia interaction in terms of symbiotic N fixation and mobilization during N deficiency-induced senescence.

Introduction: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a metabolic disorder during mid- to late-pregnancy characterized by hyperglycemia, insulin resistance and fetal mal-development. Glucose transporter type 2 (GLUT2) and sodium-coupled glucose cotransporters 2 (SGLT2) in the proximal tubules play a critical role in the reabsorption of glucose and have been linked to the occurrence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Our study was designed to investigate the role of GLUT2 and SGLT2 in the pathogenesis of GDM, which is considered a forerunner of T2DM, and investigate the related molecular mechanism.

Although remote ischemic postconditioning (RIPC) was shown to confer cardioprotection against myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury in normal animals, whether RIPC-induced cardioprotection is altered in the presence of hypercholesterolemia, a comorbidity with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients has yet to be determined. Normal or 2% cholesterol chow was fed to male C57BL/6J mice for 12 weeks to induce hypercholesterolemia, then normal or hypercholesterolemic murine hearts were exposed to AMI by coronary artery ligation. RIPC was induced by four episodes of 5 min femoral artery occlusion followed by 5 min reperfusion immediately after myocardial reperfusion in mice.

Despite numerous reports that legume-rhizobium symbiosis alleviates Cu stress in plants, the possible roles of legume-rhizobium symbiosis and the regulatory mechanisms in counteracting Cu toxicity remain unclear. Here, Sinorhizobium meliloti CCNWSX0020 was used for analyzing the effects of rhizobium inoculation on plant growth in Medicago sativa seedlings under Cu stress. Our results showed that rhizobium inoculation alleviated Cu-induced growth inhibition, and increased nitrogen concentration in M.
