Factors affecting health promotion behavior of school-aged children in South Korea: a cross-sectional study.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the factors affecting the health promotion behavior of school-aged children informed by the Information-Motivation-Behavioral Skills Model.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 209 fifth- and sixth-grade elementary school students from Seoul, selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected from March 13 to 31, 2023, using a self-administered questionnaire.

Low modulus PMMA-based bone cement for the reduction of adjacent vertebral fractures after vertebroplasty.

Vertebral augmentation employing polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) bone cement is a widely used therapeutic technique for treating vertebral compression fractures. In this study, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-enhanced PMMA bone cement (PDMS/PMMA) was developed to address the significant limitations associated with traditional PMMA bone cements in vertebroplasty: excessive exothermicity causing necrosis of normal bone tissues and high stiffness leading to fractures in adjacent vertebrae. The incorporation of PDMS into the PMMA bone cement results in consumption of the heat generated during polymerization, which prevents necrosis of surrounding tissue and speeds up the curing process of PDMS, showcasing the synergistic effects between PMMA and PDMS.

Purpose: Children with precocious puberty undergo rapid physical changes that may lead to behavioral problems. Parenting style, along with parental stress and coping mechanisms, are important parental factors that affect the development of behavioral problems in children. Therefore, we examined the serial mediating effects of parenting style and parent's coping mechanisms on the relationship between parental stress and behavioral problems in girls with precocious puberty.

In this study, we developed a multilayer film with a platelet-derived growth factor-BB (PDGF-BB)-immobilized leaf-stacked structure (LSS) layer (bioactive layer) and an alginate layer (antiadhesive layer) on both sides of a PCL film (). Purpose: The cardiovascular (CV) benefits of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) are well established, but their effects on lower limb events (LLEs) remain inconclusive, with conflicting findings from clinical trials and real-world studies. This study aimed to assess the risks of CV and LLEs associated with SGLT2i compared to dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP-4i) in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Patients And Methods: The study included patients with type 2 diabetes who were newly prescribed SGLT2i or DPP-4i using data from the National Health Insurance Service in South Korea.

Backgrounds: The treatment of complex distal radius fractures, particularly those involving both intra-articular disruption and significant metaphyseal comminution, remains a considerable surgical challenge. While volar locking plates have become a widely accepted standard for stabilizing these fractures, alone they may not address all fracture patterns. This study presents a surgical approach that incorporates the use of a mini-plate to provide targeted support for the metaphyseal region.

Formative versus reflective measurement models in nursing research: a secondary data analysis of a cross-sectional study in Korea.

Here, we carried out a survey of the Eurotiales in South Korea, focusing on soil, freshwater, and plants (dried persimmon fruits and seeds of Perilla frutescens, known commonly as shiso).

A Promising Approach to Ultra-Flexible 1 Ah Lithium-Sulfur Batteries Using Oxygen-Functionalized Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes.

Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries represent a promising solution for achieving high energy densities exceeding 500 Wh kg, leveraging cathode materials with theoretical energy densities up to 2600 Wh kg. These batteries are also cost-effective, abundant, and environment-friendly. In this study, an innovative approach is proposed utilizing highly oxidized single-walled carbon nanotubes (Ox-SWCNTs) as a conductive fibrous scaffold and functional interlayer in sulfur cathodes and separators, respectively, to demonstrate large-area and ultra-flexible Li-S batteries with enhanced energy density.

eHealth Communication Intervention to Promote Human Papillomavirus Vaccination Among Middle-School Girls: Development and Usability Study.

Background: As the age of initiating sexual intercourse has gradually decreased among South Korean adolescents, earlier vaccination of adolescents for human papillomavirus (HPV) is necessary before their exposure to HPV. Health communication includes "cues to action" that lead to preventive health behaviors, and recently, social networking services, which operate with fewer time and space constraints, have been used in various studies as a form of eHealth communication.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the feasibility and usability of an eHealth communication intervention for HPV vaccination in middle-school girls aimed at the girls and their mothers.

Factors associated with generalized anxiety disorder in adolescents with cultural diversity: secondary data analysis.

Background: The number of culturally diverse adolescents in South Korea has reached 290,000 and is increasing every year; however, they still represent only 2.5% of the total adolescent population in middle and high schools, making them a minority. Adolescents experiencing cultural diversity are psychologically vulnerable because they grow up in bicultural environments and experience prejudice.

1-Hour Postload Glucose: Early Screening for High Risk of Type 2 Diabetes in Koreans With Normal Fasting Glucose.

Context: With rising the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and prediabetes, the importance of 1-hour postload plasma glucose (1-h PG) for early hyperglycemia screening is emphasized.

Objective: This study investigates the utility of 1-h PG in predicting T2DM in adults with normal fasting plasma glucose levels.

Methods: A total of 7504 participants were categorized into 3 groups: normal glucose tolerance (NGT) with 1-h PG < 155 mg/dL, NGT with 1-h PG ≥ 155 mg/dL, and impaired glucose tolerance (IGT).
