Intravenous lipid emulsions of cabazitaxel (CLEs) with a high stability were prepared by adding cholesterol (CH) to provide a new and more suitable delivery system for its administration. In order to increase the dissolution rate and oral bioavailability of bifendate, coated beads with core-shell structure were prepared via a combination use of wet media milling method and bead layering process. Hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC-SL) and sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) were found to be the best pair to stabilize the nanosuspension during milling process. A 10:1 ratio of mixture of mannitol and SLS was chosen as most suitable coating matrix to maintain the redispersability of dried nanoparticles in the shell of beads.

Well-ordered large-areas individual addressable ferroelectric nanocapacitor arrays with Pt top electrode and various lateral sizes down to below 100 nm have been fabricated by focused ion beam (FIB) milling on Nb-doped single-crystal SrTiO3(001) substrate. Objective: To investigate the pathogen profile of nosocomial infection in China, and to survey the susceptibility rates of these pathogens to the clinical common antibiotics.
Methods: The non-repetitive nosocomial pathogens isolated from bloodstream infection (BSI), hospital acquired pneumonia (HAP) and intra-abdominal infection (IAI) and the case data were collected from 13 teaching hospitals in different areas of China and sent to a central laboratory for re-identification and susceptibility testing. The levels of minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the common antibiotics were determined by agar dilution method.
For a number of human genes that encode transcripts containing inverted repeat Alu elements (IRAlus) within their 3' untranslated region (UTR), product mRNA is efficiently exported to the cytoplasm when the IRAlus, which mediate nuclear retention, are removed by alternative polyadenylation. Here we report a new mechanism that promotes gene expression by targeting mRNAs that maintain their 3' UTR IRAlus: Binding of the dsRNA-binding protein Staufen1 (STAU1) to 3' UTR IRAlus inhibits nuclear retention so as to augment the nuclear export of 3' UTR IRAlus-containing mRNAs (IRAlus mRNAs). Moreover, we found that 3' UTR IRAlus-bound STAU1 enhances 3' UTR IRAlus mRNA translation by precluding protein kinase R (PKR) binding, which obviates PKR activation, eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2α (eIF2α) phosphorylation, and repression of global cell translation.

Objective: To understand the correlation between schistosomiasis endemic situation and Oncomelania snail status, and discuss the control strategy and measures.
Methods: With a retrospective research method, the data were collected and analyzed including the snail area, infected snail area, snail density, density of infected snails, the infection rate of snails, the positive rates of blood tests and stool examinations for schistosomiasis in residents and domestic animals, and the incidence of acute schistosome infection in Yizheng City from 2002 to 2011. The correlation between the infected snails and schistosomiasis was analyzed.

The purpose of this article was to compare the in vitro and in vivo profiles of itraconazole (ITZ) extrudates and nanosuspension separately prepared by two different methods. And it was proved truly to form nanocrystalline and amorphous ITZ characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FTIR), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The release of ITZ/Soluplus solid dispersions with amorphous ITZ was almost complete while only 40% release was obtained with ITZ nanocrystals.

Recently, a novel gene-deletion method was developed for the crenarchaeal model Sulfolobus islandicus, which is a suitable tool for addressing gene essentiality in depth. Using this technique, we have investigated functions of putative DNA repair genes by constructing deletion mutants and studying their phenotype. We found that this archaeon may not encode a eukarya-type of NER (nucleotide excision repair) pathway because depleting each of the eukaryal NER homologues XPD, XPB and XPF did not impair the DNA repair capacity in their mutants.

Alternative cleavage and polyadenylation (APA) generates diverse mRNA isoforms. We developed 3' region extraction and deep sequencing (3'READS) to address mispriming issues that commonly plague poly(A) site (pA) identification, and we used the method to comprehensively map pAs in the mouse genome.
