Bidirectional fermentation is a technology that utilizes fungi to ferment medicinal edible substrates, with synergistic and complementary advantages. In this work, a fermentation strategy was established to produce a high yield of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and pigments (MPs) using and mulberry leaves (MLs). Firstly, the basic fermentation parameters were determined using single-factor experiments, followed by Plackett-Burman (PB) experimental design to identify MLs, glucose, peptone, and temperature as significant influencing factors.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries are promising alternatives of conventional Li-ion batteries attributed to their remarkable energy densities and high sustainability. However, the practical applications of Li-S batteries are hindered by the shuttling effect of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) on cathode and the Li dendrite formation on anode, which together leads to inferior rate capability and cycling stability. Here, an advanced N-doped carbon microreactors embedded with abundant Co O /ZnO heterojunctions (CZO/HNC) are designed as dual-functional hosts for synergistic optimization of both S cathode and Li metal anode.

The application of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) provides an unbiased method for the detection of unknown pathogens. A 46-year-old man received empirical treatment with piperacillin-tazobactam and moxifloxacin after an initial diagnosis of prostatitis and pneumonia.

Objective: To explore the clinical application of acellular allogenic dermis combined with VSD in repairing abdominal wall defect combined with abdominal infection.
Methods: Clinical data of 5 cases of abdominal cavity infection with abdominal wall defect admitted in the Burn Department of Quanzhou First Hospital from January 2019 to January 2022 were collected for this study. The abdominal cavity was closed temporarily after debridement and VSD in the early stage, and the abdominal wall defect was repaired by acellular allogeneic dermis combined with autologous split-thickness skin graft in the second stage.

Accurate hyperspectral remote sensing information is essential for feature identification and detection. Nevertheless, the hyperspectral imaging mechanism poses challenges in balancing the trade-off between spatial and spectral resolution. Hardware improvements are cost-intensive and depend on strict environmental conditions and extra equipment.

Based on first-principles calculations and symmetry analysis, we propose that trigonal CaI with the space group 3̄1 possesses straight and twisted open nodal-line phonon states with linear dispersion. The symmetry analysis indicates that joint symmetry and rotational symmetry protect the straight nodal lines along - and - while and mirror symmetry () maintain the twisted nodal lines that traverse - (-) and - (-). The calculated π Berry phase suggests that all the nodal lines are nontrivial and the corresponding drumhead-like surface states are clearly visible in the observation window, which is less than 6 THz, suggesting a significant chance for them to be measured using meV-resolution inelastic X-ray scattering.

Energy converters based on vortex-induced vibrations (VIV) have shown great potential for harvesting energy from low-velocity flows, which constitute a significant portion of ocean energy. However, solid-solid triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG) are not wear-resistant in corrosive environments. Therefore, to effectively harvest ocean energy over the long term, a novel solid-liquid triboelectric nanogenerator based on vortex-induced resonance (VIV-SL-TENG) is presented.

This review will focus on recent achievements. It mainly covers reaction methods for the simultaneous introduction of C-C bonds and C-R/C/O/N/Cl/S/D bonds into quinoxalin-2(1)-ones and their reaction mechanisms.

Xinggao sheep are a breed of Chinese domestic sheep that are adapted to the extremely cold climatic features of the Hinggan League in China. The economically vital reproductive trait of ewes (litter size, LS) and productive traits of lambs (birth weight, BWT; weaning weight, WWT; and average daily gain, ADG) are expressed in females and later in life after most of the selection decisions have been made. This study estimated the genetic parameters for four traits to explore the genetic mechanisms underlying the variation, and we performed genome-wide association study (GWAS) tests on a small sample size to identify novel marker trait associations (MTAs) associated with prolificacy and growth.

Methods: After collection, the ejaculates of Holstein bulls were subsequently diluted with a Tris extender buffer supplemented with different concentrations of SeNPs (0, 1, 2, and 4 μg/ml), followed by semen equilibration at 4°C and assessment of sperm viability and motility. Subsequently, the ejaculates of Holstein bulls were pooled, split into four equal groups, and diluted with a Tris extender buffer supplemented with basic extender (negative control group, NC group), 2 μg/ml SeNPs (SeNPs group), 4 mM GSH (GSH group), and 4 mM GSH plus 2 μg/ml SeNPs (GSH + SeNPs group).

Background: Laser intervention is increasingly recognized as an effective approach to preventing scars, however, as lasers of different wavelengths reach different target tissues, an appropriate combination of laser treatment is required.
Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of combining erbium: yttrium aluminium garnet (Er:YAG) 2,940-nm laser and fractional carbon dioxide (CO2) 10,600-nm laser for the treatment of facial scarring.
Materials & Methods: Medical records of 39 patients with facial scars were retrospectively reviewed.

Superovulation technology shows a great potential for shortening breeding time. Using the juvenile superovulation technology, juvenile animals can generate more follicles than adult animals. By sequencing using high-throughput methods, we studied and described differentially expressed (DE) long non-coding RNA (lncRNAs) and messenger RNAs (mRNAs) in the ovaries of young and adult sheep.

Methods: Sixty-seven children treated surgically at our hospital from March 2016 to September 2021 for lateral condylar fracture of the humerus with displacement > 2 mm were retrospectively analyzed. The children were divided into two groups where early surgery consisted of patients being operated on within 24-h post-injury (n = 36) and delayed surgery consisted of children operated after 24-h post-injury (n = 31).

To address the loss of measurement information caused by limitation of the field of view in fringe projection profilometry, a 3D full-field measurement based on imaging view transformation with a mirror auxiliary is proposed in this work. In this system, the principle of ideal specular reflection is applied to create a symmetrical structure between the real and virtual images for subsequent imaging view transformation. The phase of images is obtained by a multifrequency and multiple phase-shift sinusoidal fringe projection algorithm, and the real and virtual point clouds of measured objects are obtained by system calibration.

Purpose: The clinical application of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) allows a high dose of radiation to be safely delivered to extracranial targets within the body; however, a high dose per fraction (hypofractionation) has opened the radiation oncology field to new questions on a variety of dose-fractionation schedules, especially the immunomodulatory effects of radiation therapy, which can change after various dose-fractionation schedules. We investigated the immunomodulatory effects of different fractionation schedules.

Large-scale national rivers are maintained through systematic maintenance and management, whereas many difficulties can be encountered in the management of small-scale local rivers. Damage to embankments due to illegal farming along rivers has resulted in collapses during torrential rainfall.

Telecom fraud detection is of great significance in online social networks. Yet the massive, redundant, incomplete, and uncertain network information makes it a challenging task to handle. Hence, this paper mainly uses the correlation of attributes by entropy function to optimize the data quality and then solves the problem of telecommunication fraud detection with incomplete information.
