Conventional cancer chemotherapeutics have long been confronted by significant challenges such as adverse effects and drug resistance. A target protein degradation technology, proteolysis targeting chimeras (PROTACs), emerges as a novel modality but with pharmacokinetic issues and toxicity limitations. In order to overcome limited permeability of PROTACs and minimize their on-target off-tumor toxicity in healthy tissues, various conjugates with biomacromolecules (antibodies or aptamers) have been engineered.

This study have previously reported that ZIF-based chiral nanomedicines achieve Parkinson's disease (PD) therapy through differential metabolism and relief of neuroinflammation. However, lack of overall chirality and anti-inflammatory capacity of nanomedicines limit the further effective solution to the nanobiological effects research in PD. Here, it dexterously loaded chiral gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) onto the inner and outer surfaces of ZIF to achieve the purpose of simultaneously improving the overall chirality and anti-inflammatory activity of the composite nanoparticles (NPs).

Compared to the effect of the active hydrogen atom in the cation in protic ionic liquids (ILs) on their properties and applications, there are very few reports on the role of the active hydrogen atom in the anion. In order to better understand the role of the active hydrogen atom in the anion, the physical properties, CO capture and conversion of three hydantoin-based anion-functionalized ILs ([P][Hy], [P][Hy], and [HDBU][Hy]) have been investigated experiments, spectroscopy, and DFT calculations in this work. The results show that the active hydrogen atom in the anion can form anionic hydrogen bonding networks, which significantly increase the melting point and viscosity and decrease the basicity of the IL, thereby weakening its ability to capture and convert CO.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

May 2023

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Zhejiang Engineering Research Center of Fat-Soluble Vitamin, Shaoxing University, Zhejiang, 312000, People's Republic of China.

The increasing usage of an important heavy metal chromium for industrial purposes, such as metallurgy, electroplating, leather tanning, and other fields, has contributed to an augmented level of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) in watercourses negatively impacting the ecosystems and significantly making Cr(VI) pollution a serious environmental issue. In this regard, iron nanoparticles exhibited great reactivity in remediation of Cr(VI)-polluted waters and soils, but, the persistence and dispersion of the raw iron should be improved. Herein, this article utilized an environment-friendly celite as a modifying reagent and described the preparation of a novel composites namaly celite decorated iron nanoparticles (C-Fe) and evaluation of C-Fe for the sequestration performance of Cr(VI) from aqueous solution.
