Industrial emissions of cadmium, which is used in various industries, and formation of cadmium nanoparticles during high-temperature technological processes aggravate the problem of chemical pollution. Insufficient understanding of the toxic impact of cadmium nanoparticles, coupled with the serious multisystem toxicity of this metal, necessitate expansion of knowledge about their potential toxic effects. We assessed the response of female outbred albino rats to subchronic exposure to cadmium oxide nanoparticles (CdO NPs) administered intranasally at the concentration of 0.

Overcoming the high-temperature limitations of ceramic fuel cells (CFCs) requires the development of electrolytes capable of efficient proton transport at reduced operating temperatures. In this work, we introduced a surface-engineered SrTiO electrolyte coated with 10 mol%-CeO, forming a core-shell heterostructure that promoted the formation of oxygen vacancies localized at the interface. These vacancies significantly reduced the energy barrier for proton migration, enabling enhanced ionic conductivity at low operating temperatures.

In this study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the structural properties of ZIF-8 and BDC-Cu using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). By studying the structural characteristics of these MOFs, we aim to understand how their unique properties influence their effectiveness as radiation shielding materials. The FTIR analysis confirmed the existence of metal-ligand and OH bonds that influence interactions with electromagnetic radiation and potentially contribute to shielding properties.

In this work, the electronic, spectral, and structural properties of ferrocene and polyferrocene under pressure have been investigated using DFT and DFT+DMFT methods taking into account dynamic electronic correlations. It is found that polyferrocene crystalizes in three different phases with transitions at 80 and 200 GPa. The calculated DFT+DMFT enthalpy of ferrocene and polyferrocene indicates a possibility of ferrocene transitioning into a polymerized phase at about 80 GPa.

The experimental IR and Raman vibrational spectra of a hydrated La(III) complex with a 1,2,3-triazole ligand were characterized by using four different Density Functional Theory (DFT) levels and two accurate scaling procedures. In the theoretical calculations, the hydration water in the experimental sample was considered under the Discrete Model (DM) with different numbers of explicit water molecules and different positions around the La(III) ion and the carboxylate groups. The predicted IR spectra at the M06-2X/Lanl2dz level appear to be the closest to the experimental ones.

In recent years, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices have gained prominence as firms seek to align profitability with sustainability and ethical responsibility. We analyse the impact of ESG scores, regional economic volatility (ECOVOL), regime shifts, and other control variables on financial performance indicators such as Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE). Using a long-difference multilevel fixed-effects approach, we examine firm- and regional-level data for 32 U.

Synthetic derivatives of phenylethanamine, specifically 2-(2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-N-((2-substituted)benzyl)ethanamines, regularly appear on the global market of new designer drugs and have been reported to be associated with adverse effects in humans who consume them. At the same time, their positional isomers may lack psychoactive effects. These compounds are not currently regulated by legislation and could potentially be used for medical purposes in the future.

Phase change materials (PCMs) suffer from slow melting rates due to their low thermal conductivity, limiting their efficiency in thermal energy storage systems. This study numerically investigates the novel use of copper rods as conductive enhancers to accelerate PCM melting in a horizontally placed hemispherical cell. Using the ANSYS/FLUENT 16 with an enthalpy-porosity model, the impact of rod integration is examined to determine the optimal rod configuration for maximising heat transfer while minimising melting time.

A switchable ring-opening reaction of 3-alkynyl-4-pyrones with CH-active compounds in basic medium has been developed for the efficient synthesis of highly substituted benzofurans and chromones. The best selectivity is achieved under solvent-free conditions for the formation of chromones and in the presence of CuI for the formation of benzofurans. Both conditions are very mild and scalable.

This work introduces the semi-quantitative optical test system for determining the antioxidant capacity (AOC) of various substances using coordination compounds as model oxidizers. The test system consists of the plastic plate with paper sensors impregnated with a model oxidant, and the calibration strip. In order to determine AOC, the sensor color must be compared with the color of the calibration strip.

Bursting oscillations, characterized by alternating patterns of rapid oscillations and quiescence, is a prototypical form of complex dynamics that can emerge in both in low-dimensional systems and networks of coupled dynamical systems. Such bursting patterns are frequently observed in a wide range of systems, including neuronal models, electronic circuits, and laser models. However, the mechanisms governing the conditions under which bursting is initiated remain challenging from the nonlinear dynamics viewpoint.

Introduction: Epilepsy is a persistent neurological condition featuring abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Beyond its neurological symptoms, it is frequently associated with comorbid anxiety and depression, which significantly impair patients' quality of life (QoL). Cognitive therapy (CBT), psychotherapy, and self-management (SM) have been substantiated through research to be significantly effective in alleviating psychological distress and enhancing quality of life.

Depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are treatment-resistant neuropsychiatric conditions closely linked to chronic neuroinflammation. Given the limitations of current pharmacotherapies, selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors have emerged as promising candidates for modulating neuroimmune and oxidative pathways. This systematic review evaluated the efficacy of selective COX-2 inhibitors in improving behavioral and neuroinflammatory outcomes in rodent models of chronic stress or systemic inflammation relevant to depression and PTSD.

This study investigates the long-term impact of green technology innovation (GTI) on carbon dioxide emissions (CO), including transport-related emissions (COT) and the carbon intensity of GDP (COI), across twenty selected Asian developing economies. To address cross-sectional dependence and heterogeneity across countries, the analysis employs advanced panel data techniques such as Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS), Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS), Pooled Mean Group (PMG), and Augmented Mean Group (AMG) estimators. The empirical results demonstrate that GTI significantly reduces CO, COT, and COI in the long run across all model specifications.

Bandgap engineering is the process of modifying a material's electronic structure to optimize its bandgap for specific applications. Applying pressure is an effective technique to alter a material's physical properties to meet device requirements. In this manuscript, we have investigated the impact of bandgap engineering through pressure application on the physical characteristics of AcGaO.
