In the past century, the human Lifespan has doubled. However, this is not equivalent to Healthspan which refers to the number of years spent healthy and free from disease. Women have an additional level of complexity on the path to optimal healthspan where health resilience dramatically decreases following menopause and this is due to their ovaries aging by midlife.

Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 11 (LRP11) is reported to be overexpressed in various cancers; however, its functional role in lung adenocarcinoma remains poorly understood. This study aimed to elucidate the tumor-promoting function of LRP11 in lung adenocarcinoma. We assessed the expression and function of LRP11 in lung adenocarcinoma cell lines through both silencing and overexpression experiments.

Background: Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) significantly impair health-related quality of life (HRQoL). While clinical predictors are well established, the contribution of psychological factors, particularly in primary care, remains underexplored.
Aim: To examine the sociodemographic, clinical, and psychological determinants of HRQoL in individuals with DFUs to inform development of psychologically informed interventions.

Background: Improving the efficacy of anti-programmed death 1 (PD-1) monoclonal antibody (mAb) therapy remains a major challenge for cancer immunotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Gut microbial metabolites can influence immunotherapy efficacy.
Methods: ELISA was used to compare the serum 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) level in patients with NSCLC.

A virologist recently made headlines after successfully using an experimental form of oncolytic virotherapy to treat her own recurrent breast cancer. This case has come at a time when regulators are increasingly having to grapple with the proliferation of self-experimentation outside of accredited research institutions. There is, therefore, a pressing need to outline the key ethical dimensions of self-experimentation and to develop ethical guidance for journals that may be faced with decisions about whether to publish research involving self-experimentation.

This review explores the geographical distribution of human taphonomy facilities (HTFs) in connection to climate and homicide rates from the 50 most impacted cities worldwide. Existing HTFs depict temperate climates, omitting tropical and arid areas. This underrepresentation impairs accurate post-mortem interval (PMI) estimates and limits the applicability of findings to global contexts.

Introduction: Decision-making failure is a critical factor influencing workers' unsafe behavior. While previous research has predominantly concentrated on rational decision-making failures, it has largely ignored the impact of irrational decision-making failures and the mechanisms through which these failures contribute to unsafe behaviors. This oversight limits our understanding of how unsafe behavior develops.

Introduction: Virtual reality (VR) technology is increasingly being explored as a medium for delivering mindfulness-based interventions. While studies have investigated the feasibility and efficacy of VR-based mindfulness interventions, there has been limited synthesis of user experiences and perceptions across diverse applications, hindering the iterative refinement of these technologies and limiting evidence-based guidance for effective deployment in real-world settings. This systematic review aims to comprehensively identify, appraise and synthesise qualitative research on end-user experiences and perceptions of VR-based mindfulness interventions.

Introduction: Multimorbidity contributes significantly to poor population health outcomes while straining healthcare systems. Although some multimorbid patients experience an accelerated health decline (a decline in well-being or functional status that cannot be attributed to the natural ageing-related health deterioration), others can remain stable for years. Identifying risk factors for accelerated health decline in persons with multimorbidity could help prevent complications and reduce unnecessary interventions.

Osteochondral defects caused by trauma, obesity, tumors, and degenerative osteoarthropathies severely impair patients' quality of life. Multilayer tissue engineering scaffolds offer promising strategies for osteochondral repair by enhancing structural biomimicry. In this study, a triple-layer GelMA-alginate-based osteochondral scaffold (TCOS) was fabricated using an enhanced multi-axis, multi-process, multi-material 3D bioprinting system (MAPM-BPS).

Background & Aims: Terlipressin is indicated to treat hepatorenal syndrome (HRS)-acute kidney injury (AKI), but is likely used outside this primary indication in clinical practice. We aimed to investigate real-world practice patterns on the use of terlipressin in AKI in cirrhosis.
Methods: International prospective study including patients hospitalized for decompensated cirrhosis.

Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) have played an instrumental role in the delivery of RNA therapeutics and vaccines, including the emerging class of synthetic circular RNA (circRNA). Pulmonary vaccines hold the potential to prevent various respiratory infectious diseases, such as influenza caused by influenza infection. Here, we report the pulmonary delivery of LNPs loaded with highly stable small circRNA vaccine for influenza prevention.

Background: Vaccine confidence is crucial for achieving high vaccination rates against COVID-19, yet vaccine confidence varied significantly throughout the pandemic. This study assessed the trajectories and predictors of COVID-19 vaccine confidence from prior to the vaccine rollout to mass vaccination.
Methods: It is a population-based cohort study with nine waves of longitudinal data from September 2020 to February 2023, spanning the pre-vaccine rollout to COVID-19 mass vaccination in Hong Kong.

For the first time, long-wavelength red emission carbon dots (R-CDs) were prepared as ratiometric fluorescent and colorimetric dual-mode sensors for detecting ClO using a simple one-step hydrothermal method. R-CDs exhibited intrinsic red fluorescence at 587 nm. Upon interaction with ClO, a new and enhanced green fluorescence at 535 nm was observed, which was attributed to resulting from the oxidation of surface hydroxyl (-OH) groups to carbonyl (CO) groups.

To examine how one's community connectedness may act as a source of resilience and promote HIV prevention and care behaviors among transgender women of color. We analyzed survey data from 313 transgender women of color living in New York City collected from August 2020 to November 2022. The Community Connectedness Scale asks participants about their baseline feelings of connection, feelings of inclusion, feelings of belonging, feelings of isolation, and feelings of being unlike in relation to the transgender community.

Hopfions-higher-dimensional topological quasiparticles with sophisticated 3D knotted spin textures discovered in condensed matter and photonic systems-show promise in high-density data storage and transfer. Here, we present crystalline structures of hopfions lying in space-time constructed by spatiotemporally structured light. Practical methodologies using bichromatic structured light beams or dipole arrays to assemble 1D and higher dimensional hopfion lattices are proposed, and a technique for tailoring topological orders is elucidated.

Interlocked and polycatenated material systems, consisting of discrete, nonconvex particles linked to their nearest neighbors, such as chainmail fabrics, have been shown to undergo a jamming transition that increases their rigidity under boundary compression. This rigidity transition is associated with an increase in contact number between particles. In architected materials, rigidity is described by theories such as the Maxwell criterion.

Precise delivery of nanoliter-scale reagents is essential for high-throughput biochemical assays, yet existing platforms often lack real-time control and selective content fusion. Conventional methods rely on passive encapsulation or stochastic pairing, limiting both throughput and biochemical specificity. Here, we introduce an on-demand nanoliter delivery platform that seamlessly integrates electrical sensing, triggered droplet merging, and passive sorting in a single continuous flow.

Embodied intelligence in soft robotics offers unprecedented capabilities for operating in uncertain, confined, and fragile environments that challenge conventional technologies. However, achieving true embodied intelligence-which requires continuous environmental sensing, real-time control, and autonomous decision-making-faces challenges in energy management and system integration. We developed deformation-resilient flexible batteries with enhanced performance under magnetic fields inherently present in magnetically actuated soft robots, with capacity retention after 200 cycles improved from 31.
