The spider mites , and are severe pests of rubber trees in China. The predatory mite has been found to be a natural enemy of these three pests, while nothing is known about the biological performance of this phytoseiid predator against these phytophagous mites. In this study, the development, survivorship, reproduction, adult longevity, fecundity, sex ratio and population growth parameters of fed on these pests were evaluated in comparison to the factitious prey in the laboratory at 25 ± 1 °C, 75 ± 5% relative humidity and a 12:12 (L:D) h photoperiod.

Chemical defense is a crucial component of fitness in many organisms, yet the physiological regulation of defensive toxin synthesis is poorly understood, especially in vertebrates. Bufadienolides, the main defensive compounds of toads, are toxic to many predators and other natural enemies, and their synthesis can be upregulated by stressors, including predation risk, high conspecific density, and pollutants. Thus, higher toxin content may be the consequence of a general endocrine stress response in toads.

Several Eurydema species (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) are considered as pests, however, reports on their chemical ecology are scarce. In the current study we focused on Eurydema ornata (Linnaeus) a pentatomid pest of several brassicaceous crops. Drug delivery systems (DDSs) capable of sequential multistage drug release are urgently needed for antibacterial applications. Herein, a molecular switch-integrated, photo-responsive nanoplatform is reported based on hollow mesoporous silica nanospheres (HMSN) loaded with silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs), vancomycin (Van), and hemin (HAVH) for bacteria elimination and abscess therapy. Upon near-infrared (NIR) light irradiation, the molecular switch, hemin, can effuse from the mesopores of HMSN, triggering the release of pre-loaded Ag and Van, which enables photothermal-modulated drug release and synergistic photothermal-chemo therapy (PTT-CHT).

Long-term overuse of chemical nematicides has resulted in low control efficacy toward destructive root-knot nematodes, and continuous development in nanotechnology is supposed to enhance the utilization efficiency of nematicides to meet practical needs. Herein, a cationic star polymer (SPc) was constructed to load fluopyram (flu) and prepare a flu nanoagent. Accurate description of Cd micro-zone distribution and accumulation is the prerequisite for revealing Cd transfer and transformation processes. However, to date, the role of soil pores in the Cd micro-zone distribution characteristics in undisturbed soil is still unclear.
