Importance: Lower survival rates among Black adults relative to White adults after in-hospital cardiac arrest are well-described, but these findings have not been consistently replicated in pediatric studies.
Objective: To use a large, national, population-based inpatient database to evaluate the associations between in-hospital mortality in children receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and patient race or ethnicity, patient insurance status, and the treating hospital's proportion of Black and publicly insured patients.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This retrospective population-based cohort study used the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project Kids' Inpatient Database (1997-2019 triennial versions).

Moral intelligence is the ability to distinguish between right and wrong, to make ethical decisions, and to be guided by certain values in life. In view of cultural and social change and the ongoing crisis of values, moral intelligence is of particular importance today in various areas of human life and function. The purpose of this article is to introduce the topic of moral intelligence and its operationalization in order to construct the moral intelligence scale.

Alcohol and indole derivatives are widely recognized as versatile building blocks in both chemical and biochemical synthesis. The formal conjugate addition between these two classes of compounds provides a powerful and sustainable strategy for constructing γ-hydroxyindoles, owing to the reaction's 100% atom economy and the ready availability of starting materials. In this study, we report a redox-neutral cross-coupling reaction between indoles and allylic alcohols, catalyzed by a manganese(i) pincer complex, which enables the efficient synthesis of a broad range of γ-hydroxyindoles under mild conditions.

Both moral cleansing and moral licensing theories suggest that moral self-concept positively influences subsequent engagement in fraudulent behavior. Specifically, a decrease in moral self-concept reduces dishonesty (moral cleansing), while an increase promotes it (moral licensing). However, within these theoretical frameworks, prior research has rarely measured moral self-concept directly, and even fewer studies have manipulated it experimentally.

Objectives: We aimed to investigate the concentration of adenosine (ADO) in the tumor microenvironment (TME), focusing on its potential to modulate tumor cells and natural killer (NK) cells, thereby facilitating tumor immune escape.
Methods: In this study, an in vitro simulation system was developed to systematically evaluate the effects of ADO (0-500 μM) on the colony formation and migration capability of A549 (lung carcinoma) and A375 (melanoma) cell lines, as well as its action on NK92 cell activity, cytokine secretion, and cytotoxicity against tumor cells.
Results: The results showed that 50 μM ADO significantly promoted tumor cell proliferation (increasing the colony formation rate by 60%-80%) and migration (increasing the migration rate by 30%-40%), whereas high concentrations (>200 μM) exhibited an inhibitory effect.

Background: Existing literature on leader narcissism reveals conflicting evidence due to the paradoxical nature of narcissistic traits- narcissistic admiration and rivalry. Additionally, a bipolar view of self-interest, rooted in the concept of dual behavior may help in clarifying this paradox. Therefore, the study examines how narcissistic admiration and rivalry affect leader narcissism and workplace deviance, with self-interested behavior acting as a mediating factor.

Change management is part of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), particularly during the challenging stage of Requirement Engineering (RE). Managing requirements and incorporating changes can be complex and demanding, Having high impacts on project duration, cost, and ultimately project success and failure, cost, and ultimately, the success or failure of the software project. This research paper aims to explore and analyses various change management frameworks that contribute to the effectiveness of project completion, with a focus on minimizing time and cost estimates while maximizing product quality.

The rapid integration of artificial intelligence across industries necessitates systematic AI literacy development in higher vocational education to prepare students for AI-driven professional environments. This study develops and validates a comprehensive competency-based ladder development pathway specifically designed to enhance AI literacy among vocational students. The research employs a mixed-methods approach combining theoretical framework construction, empirical investigation, and practical implementation validation.

Background: Mortality studies in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) are scarce. We aimed to investigate all-cause MS mortality in a large cohort from Poland and to compare it with the general Polish population METHODS: The annual mortality data (2002-2022) for all patients with MS who died in Poland were obtained from Statistics Poland. Mortality in MS compared with the general population was examined using the Standardized Mortality Ratio (SMR) and Excess Death Rates (EDR).

This paper examines the effect of temperature on emergency department (ED) visits using administrative data covering 50 % of the Hungarian population and 3.52 million ED visits from 2009 to 2017. The results show that ED visit rates increase when average temperatures exceed 10°C, primarily driven by mild cases that do not result in hospitalization.

Different ranking methods have long been used in sensory testing. Their diffusion was mainly due to their simplicity, their standardized methods, their software support, and their wide range of applications. However, a number of research and industrial problems have emerged recently that cannot be adequately solved by the standard approaches, making it necessary to apply and adapt methods from other disciplines.

SmD1 isolated from seeds of common chickweed has strong inhibitory activity against phytopathogenic fungi and oomycetes in the micromolar range (IC ≤ 1 μM). However, the low production of plant defensins in natural strains limits their large-scale actual production. In this study, defensin gene was successfully heterologously expressed in BL21 (DE3) for efficient production of plant defensins.
