Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), a critical condition with high mortality, arises from dysregulated inflammation and lung injury. While evidence-based supportive care remains foundational, the lack of effective targeted therapies underscores the need for novel approaches. This review focuses on the emerging role of intestinal microecology in ARDS pathogenesis the gut-lung axis.

Herein, we present a paper-based POCT sensor based on lactate dehydrogenase-mediated alginate gelation combined with visual distance reading and smartphone-assisted colorimetric dual-signal analysis to determine the concentration of L-lactate in yogurt samples. In this research, L-lactate was transformed into pyruvate by lactate dehydrogenase. Pyruvate then triggered the gelation of a sol mixture, increasing the viscosity () of the mixture, which was shown as a decrease in the diffusion diameter on the paper-based sensor.

Mercury is a highly toxic element that is widely present in all types of environmental media and can accumulate in living organisms. Prolonged exposure to high levels of mercury can lead to brain damage and death, so the detection of mercury is of great importance. In this study, a cost-effective and easy-to-operate electrochemical sensing method was successfully developed based on an amino-functionalized titanium-based MXene (NH-TiCT) for the rapid and selective detection of Hg that could have a coordination effect with the -NH group of NH-TiCT to promote the efficient accumulation of Hg.

The detection of foodborne pathogens is crucial for food hygiene regulation and disease diagnosis. Colorimetry has become one of the main analytical methods in studying foodborne pathogens due to its advantages of visualization, low cost, simple operation, and no complex instrument. However, the low sensitivity limits its applications in early identification and on-site detection for trace analytes.

A simple dual-signal assay that combined colorimetric and fluorometric strategy for uric acid (UA) rapid detection was designed based on the versatility of facile synthesized MnO nanosheet. The oxidization of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) and the fluorescence quenching of quantum dots (QDs) occurred simultaneously in the presence of MnO nanosheet. UA could decompose MnO nanosheet into Mn, resulting in the fluorescence recovery of QDs, along with the fading of the blue color of ox TMB.

Given that food poisoning and infectious diseases caused by Salmonella typhimurium (S. typhimurium) draw intensive public health concerns, developing rapid, accurate, and cost-effective approaches to detect the pathogen is of crucial importance. Herein, we proposed a concanavalin A (Con A)-aptamer joint strategy to realize dual recognition for the strongly specific, visual, and highly sensitive determination of S.

Lead (Pb) is considered to be a major environmental pollutant and occupational health hazard worldwide which may lead to neuroinflammation. However, an effective treatment for Pb-induced neuroinflammation remains elusive. The aim of this study was to investigate the mechanisms of Pb-induced neuroinflammation, and the therapeutic effect of sodium para-aminosalicylic acid (PAS-Na, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) in rat cerebral cortex.

Objective: To analyze the current situation of cognition function of people aged 55 and above in 4 provinces of China, and to explore its influencing factors of demographic characteristics.
Methods: Using the baseline data of the "Community-based Cohort Study on Nervous System Diseases", middle-aged and older populations aged ≥55 years with completed data on demographic and economic factors and the cognitive function scale were selected as study subjects. A total of 5103 subjects were included in the study(male 2294, female 2809, 55-64 years old 1875, 65-74 years old 2197, 75-94 years old 1031).

To analyze the situation of new occupational diseases in Hengyang City from 2006 to 2017, and put forward prevention and control strategies. The data of the new occupational disease report of Hengyang city in the Occupational Disease and Occupational Health Information Monitoring System from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2017 was collected, and the age, working years, and the region and industry of the new occupational disease patients were analyzed. From 2006 to 2017, there were 7 categories, 30 kinds and 2 110 cases of new occupational diseases in Hengyang City, including 1 117 cases of pneumoconiosis, 951 cases of chronic occupational poisoning, 15 cases of acute occupational poisoning, 12 cases of occupational otolaryngological and stomatological diseases, 7 cases of occupational skin diseases, 6 cases of occupational diseases caused by physical factors, and 1 case of occupational eye diseases(cataracts), 1 case of occupational tumor (lung cancer and skin cancer caused by arsenic and its compounds).

Objective: To understand the prevalence of depression in HIV/AIDS patients who are receiving highly active antiretroviral therapy(HAART), and identify the influencing factors for depression.
Methods: A total of 180 HIV/AIDS outpatients receiving HAART were recruited in a cross-sectional survey at the first hospital of Changsha from June to December 2015. The SDS questionnaire(SDS score≥50)was used to screen depression patients and psychological CT was used to confirm the depression.
