Two -dioxomolybdenum complexes based on salan ligands with different backbones are reported. The first complex, dioxido{2,2'-[l,2-phenyl-enebis(imino-methyl-ene)]bis-(phenolato)}molybdenum(VI) di-methyl-formamide disolvate, [Mo(CHNO)O]·2CHNO (LMoO, ), features a phenyl backbone, while the second complex, (6,6'-{[(cyclo-hexane-1,2-di-yl)bis(aza-nedi-yl)]bis-(methyl-ene)}bis-(2,4-di--butyl-phenolato))dioxidomolybdenum(VI) methanol disolvate, [Mo(CHNO)O]·2CHOH (LMoO, ), is based on a cyclo-hexyl backbone. These complexes crystallized as solvated species, ·2DMF and ·2MeOH.

Nanoscale radiative thermal transport between a pair of metamaterial gratings is studied within this work. The effective medium theory (EMT), a traditional method to calculate the near-field radiative heat transfer (NFRHT) between nanograting structures, does not account for the surface pattern effects of nanostructures. Background: Caseous lymphadenitis (CLA) is a chronic disease caused by the bacterium that affects small ruminants worldwide.

Aim: The objective of this case report is to describe an outbreak of CLA that occurred at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, in the summer of 2019 and the management strategies employed therein to contain the spread.

Methods: After careful physical screening, blood serum samples from the entire herd ( = 218 sheep, = 32 goats) were tested using the synergistic hemolysis inhibition test to reveal antibodies present

Results: Animals with titer counts above 1:64 and/or containing CLA lesions were isolated and culled ( = 33 sheep, = 4 goats) within 2 weeks of testing.

Gastrointestinal dysfunction is one of the most prevalent physiological symptoms of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A growing body of largely preclinical research suggests that dysbiotic gut microbiota may modulate brain function and social behavior, yet little is known about the mechanisms that underlie these relationships and how they may influence the pathogenesis or severity of ASD. While various genetic and environmental risk factors have been implicated in ASD, this review aims to provide an overview of studies elucidating the mechanisms by which gut microbiota, associated metabolites, and the brain interact to influence behavior and ASD development, in at least a subgroup of individuals with gastrointestinal problems.

Huntington's disease (HD) causes neurological impairments, as well as muscle dysfunction, including smaller neuromuscular junctions (NMJs). This study assessed the expression levels of the subunits of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) in muscles of the R6/2 mouse model of HD. Based on our previous findings of reduced NMJ size in R6/2 mice, it was hypothesized that muscles from R6/2 mice would also show an altered expression pattern of nAChR subunits compared to wild-type (WT) mice.

This study identified and compared factors that directly and indirectly influenced face mask-wearing in the United States and South Korea during the COVID-19 pandemic by applying the theory of reasoned action. The overall levels of attitudes and future mask-wearing behavioral intention were lower for United States than Korean participants (  = 150 and  = 150). Differences between the groups were noted in the impact of norms and background characteristics on attitudes and behavioral intention.

This study resolves a significant impediment to the taxonomy of the Neotropical endemic hematophagous candirus by providing the first high-resolution, CT-based osteological descriptions of type and nontype specimens of Paracanthopoma parva, type species of the genus. We also describe the distinctive new species Paravandellia alleynei based on specimens that were previously misidentified as Parac. parva in the only taxonomic study of that species since its 1935 description.

The presence of invasive species reduces the growth and performance of native species; however, the linear or non-linear relationships between invasive abundance and native population declines are less often studied. We examine how the amount and spatial distribution of experimental N deposition influences the relationship between non-native, invasive annual grass abundance (Bromus hordeaceus and Bromus diandrus) and a dominant, native perennial grass species (Stipa pulchra) in California. We hypothesized that native populations would decline as invasion increased, and that high nitrogen availability would cause native species to decline at lower invasion levels.
