Data-Driven Additive Discovery with HOMO-Descriptor Enables Durable Aqueous Zinc Batteries via Interfacial Kinetics Engineering.

Adv Mater

August 2025

School of Materials Science and Engineering, Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory of Electronic Packaging and Advanced Functional Materials, Central South University, Changsha, 410083, China.

Dendritic growth and parasitic reactions severely hinder aqueous Zn-ion batteries due to interfacial instability and uncontrolled charge transfer. Here, a machine learning-accelerated strategy for rational additive screening, establishing a predictive framework that links the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy level to the adsorption and reduction behavior of Zn, is reported. An interpretable machine learning model (Adaptive Boosting), trained on a curated molecular dataset, achieves high accuracy (Mean Squared Error = 0.

Land Use Department, National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences (NARSS), Cairo, Egypt.

Air pollution has become one of the most pressing environmental challenges globally, with significant consequences for public health and ecosystems. Recently, Gharbia Governorate has undergone remarkable changes in land use/land cover (LULC), leading to a variety of environmental impacts. These transformations have raised concerns about their potential influence on air quality, making it crucial to investigate how shifts in LULC are affecting pollution levels in the region.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is largely linked with oxidative stress, the accumulation of amyloid- plaques, and hyperphosphorylated -protein aggregation. Alterations in dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission have also been implicated in various AD-related symptoms. : To explore new therapeutic agents, a series of bicyclic and tricyclic thieno-oxazepine derivatives were synthesized as potential acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) inhibitors.

Quorum quenching (QQ) is of interest for potential application as a sustainable strategy for bacterial disease control via communication interruption. The QQ enzyme can be used as a good alternative antagonist to combat antibiotic abuse and bacterial resistance. Here, genomic DNA sequencing was performed on -acyl homoserine lactonase from the deep-sea strain DH82 with Cluster of Orthologous Groups of proteins (COGs) annotation.

: Flexible ureteroscopic surgery is a common minimally invasive procedure utilized for the management of various urological conditions. While effective, postoperative complications such as fever can occur, necessitating the identification of reliable biomarkers for early detection and management. In this study, we specifically evaluated the predictive performance of three preoperative hematologic indices: the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII).

Esaxerenone, a novel non-steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist, has shown promising results in the treatment of essential hypertension (HTN). This study aims to comprehensively analyze the effectiveness of esaxerenone to control BP in patients with essential HTN. A systematic search was performed on PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science (WOS), and Cochrane Library from inception until January 2025 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing esaxerenone with standard HTN usual care.

Doxorubicin (Dox) is a potent anthracycline antitumor drug whose clinical utility is significantly restricted by its dose-dependent, cumulative cardiotoxicity, driven by increased oxidative stress, impaired antioxidant defenses, and apoptosis-mediated cardiomyocyte loss. Methylene blue (MB), a phenothiazine derivative with well-documented redox-modulating properties, is being explored as a viable cardioprotective agent due to its antioxidant and anti-apoptotic effects. This study evaluated the protective role of MB against Dox-induced cardiotoxicity in rats by examining its impact on oxidative stress markers (Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1; KEAP1, nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2; NRF2, Glutathione peroxidase 4; GPX-4, 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine; 8-OHdG), neurohormonal indicators (noradrenaline), cardiac injury biomarkers (troponin I), and apoptotic mediators (p53, Caspase-3).

Background: Monolithic zirconia fixed partial dentures (FPDs) have gained popularity due to their high strength, biocompatibility and reduced veneer chipping compared to bilayered restorations. However, the connector region remains a critical point of mechanical failure, especially in long span implant supported FPDs subjected to high masticatory forces. The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the fracture resistance of implant-supported Y-TZP (yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal) fixed partial dentures (FPDs) with two connector sizes (9 mm² and 12 mm²) and two connector cross-sectional shapes (oval and circular).

Background is an emerging but under-recognized cause of bloodstream infections (BSIs) in intensive care unit (ICU) settings, where invasive procedures and immunocompromised states increase vulnerability. Despite its clinical importance, the epidemiology and risk factors associated with BSIs remain poorly understood, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Gap Most existing studies generalize Gram-negative pathogens without isolating the specific impact of in ICU populations.

Background And Aims: Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a severe form of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), characterized by hepatic inflammation and damage due to fat accumulation. Psoriasis patients show higher NASH incidence due to overlapping risk factors like obesity and insulin resistance. The study aimed to determine the incidence of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis in patients with psoriasis vulgaris.

Prostate cancer (PCa) remains a leading cause of cancer-related morbidity and mortality in men, with progression to castration-resistant and metastatic disease driven largely by therapeutic resistance. While numerous reviews have cataloged dysregulated microRNAs (miRNAs) in prostate cancer, this review offers a novel, mechanism-centered synthesis focused specifically on miRNA-mediated resistance pathways across standard treatment modalities-including androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), enzalutamide, docetaxel, and radiotherapy. Rather than providing a broad survey of miRNA functions, we prioritize miRNAs with robust experimental validation in PCa (e.
