Achieving high performance nanoscale photonic functionalities remains extraordinarily challenging when using naturally derived biomaterials. The ability to manipulate ultrathin films of structural proteins─combined with photolithographic control of their polymorphism─unlocks a compelling route toward engineering biopolymer-based photonic crystals with precisely defined photonic bandgaps and reconfigurable structural colors. In this work, we describe a robust, water-based fabrication process for silk/inorganic hybrid one-dimensional (1D) photonic crystals that overcomes many of the conventional difficulties in ensuring reproducibility, uniformity, and reliability at the nanoscale.

Developing high-performance wearable flexible sensors that can adapt well to complex environments has become a hotspot. Herein, a polyvinyl alcohol based composite hydrogel sensor with high mechanical strength, desirable frost/swelling resistance, and highly sensitive sensing performance was proposed by a multi-component collaborative design strategy. Meanwhile, an intelligent gesture recognition system was established by combining machine learning algorithm.

Background: Modern radiation therapy for breast cancer has significantly advanced with the adoption of volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), offering enhanced precision and improved treatment efficiency.

Purpose: To ensure the accuracy and precision of such complex treatments, a robust patient-specific quality assurance (PSQA) protocol is essential. This study investigates the potential of machine learning (ML) models to predict gamma passing rates (GPR), a key metric in PSQA.

Background: Velocity-Based Training (VBT) is an emerging method in resistance training for objectively prescribing and monitoring training intensity and neuromuscular function. Given its growing popularity, assessing the validity and reliability of VBT devices is critical for strength and conditioning coaches.

Objective: The primary purpose of this review was twofold: (1) to identify and address methodological gaps in current assessments of VBT device validity and reliability, and (2) to propose and apply a novel, multi-layered, criterion-based framework-developed in collaboration with statisticians and domain experts-for evaluating these devices.
