Malaria is still one of the most important parasitic diseases with millions of cases reported globally every year. Combination therapies of artemisinin or its derivatives, with a partner drug, are the first-and second-line treatments for malaria. However, recently, artemisinin partial resistance or tolerance has emerged and emphasizes the need for new therapeutic approaches to malaria.

Theory predicts that high population density leads to more strongly connected spatial and social networks, but how local density drives individuals' positions within their networks is unclear. This gap reduces our ability to understand and predict density-dependent processes. Here we show that density drives greater network connectedness at the scale of individuals within wild animal populations.

This third version of the seating guidelines aims to deliver a practical guide, using the most up to date research and evidence on pressure ulcer prevention and management. This guide can be applied to adults who remain seated for extended periods of time across health and social care settings. In the UK, over 700,000 patients are affected by pressure ulcers each year; 180,000 of those are newly acquired and their treatment is estimated to cost the NHS £3.

Advanced endometrial cancer (aEC) presents a formidable therapeutic challenge, particularly in patients with recurrent or metastatic disease. Historically, platinum-based chemotherapy is the mainstay treatment for aEC. However, the treatment paradigm has shifted with the emergence of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and targeted therapies.

Objectives: Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting (EVH) devices are technically complex and the learning curve for novice practitioners can be steep, due to the need for refined hand-eye coordination and device familiarity. Training and mentoring approaches vary widely, as does the experience level of practitioners entering EVH practice.
Methods: This expert review was conducted by 10 international EVH specialists from the UK, USA, and Serbia, each with 18 to 28 years of experience.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries are a major concern in sports, especially among athletes with limited ankle dorsiflexion, impacting performance and career longevity. Targeting kinetic and kinematic risk factors of high-risk sports actions through effective strategies is crucial for injury mitigation. This study aimed to assess the impact of internal focus (IF), and external focus (EF) within linear (LP) and differential learning (DL) methods on movement quality of a single leg drop jump (SL-DJ) task training in male handball players with restricted ankle dorsiflexion.

TIGIT immune checkpoint (IC) has attracted great interest in recent years. It belongs to the PVR-like protein family, and it inhibits T and NK cell cytotoxic activities. TIGIT mediates its inhibitory effect by direct signaling through the cytoplasmic tail, CD155-mediated inhibition, or competition with the immune-activating receptor CD226.

Objective measurement of community participation is essential for evaluating functional recovery and intervention outcomes in clinical populations, yet current methods rely heavily on subjective self-report measures. This study developed and validated a classification model to distinguish between home- and community-based activities using stepping and lying data from activPAL devices. Twenty-four healthy participants wore activPAL 4+ monitors continuously while completing activity diaries over 7 days.

Commissioned by Health Education England, the country's organization for education and workforce development, the Phillips Ives Review on the Digital Future of Nursing highlighted the requisite priorities of person-centered care in digital health innovations and the required changes in nursing education to ensure competent practice in the digital age. Findings from this unpublished review, shared in the Health Service Journal and Nursing Times, bring attention to emerging care models such as virtual nursing and the critical importance of embedding person-centered nursing into the design and implementation of technology. Additionally, the importance of equipping nurses with skills in genomics, artificial intelligence, and data science was essential to delivering the benefits of these advancements.

Venepuncture in adults is one of the most common procedures performed in nursing care. It enables a blood sample to be obtained for laboratory analysis, thereby facilitating crucial diagnostic and treatment processes. It is essential that venepuncture is undertaken correctly to prevent any misleading blood test results and support the provision of high-quality patient care.

The Slime Mould Algorithm (SMA) is a widely used swarm intelligence algorithm. Encouraged by the theory of no free lunch and the inherent shortcomings of the SMA, this work proposes a new variant of the SMA, called the BWSMA, in which three improvement mechanisms are integrated. The adaptive greedy mechanism is used to accelerate the convergence of the algorithm and avoid ineffective updates.

Genomic resources, such as draft genomes, are vital for biodiversity monitoring and conservation. For endangered species, they enable the development of tools like organellar genomes and molecular markers, which are crucial for population genetics. Advances in sequencing technologies now allow high-throughput genotyping with detailed amplicon sequences, enhancing genetic variation studies.

Background: This paper proposes a novel means of quantifying lower limb function by exploring relative contributions to lower limb range of motion (RoM).
Research Question: Are joint contributions to RoM sensitive, and associated with gait velocity and joint kinetics and energetics?
Methods: Sagittal plane hip, knee and ankle joint kinematics and kinetics, recorded using 3D motion capture, during walking and the propulsive phase of a drop vertical jump were used to calculate and explore relative joint contribution to RoM (RoM = sum hip, knee and ankle RoM). Sensitivity was assessed by comparing joint contributions to RoM between healthy controls and patients pre and 3-months post total knee replacement during walking.

In 2014, it was proposed (validly published in 2015) that the genus Borrelia be divided into two genera, with a new genus Borreliella holding species of the Lyme borreliosis group of spirochetes and the genus Borrelia retaining all other species. As borrelias are medically important bacteria and as concerns about this taxonomic proposal were raised, this genus split was controversial. In particular, the accuracy of the genetic signatures used to support the division of the genus has been questioned, particularly as new taxa have markedly increased the diversity of the genus in recent years.

Introduction: Traditionally, orthosis manufacturing is time and labor-intensive. Digitalization of some of the fabrication process is already ubiquitous, yet extension across device types could reduce the burden of manual labor and advance automation to help unblock access to assistive technologies globally. It seems, however, that appropriately strong evidence is holding this back.
