Aramid films are potential separator candidates for high-safety lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to their inherent flame retardancy and outstanding thermal stability. However, both weak liquid electrolyte wettability and poor mechanical properties of aramid separators for lithium-ion batteries result in low ionic conductivity and unsatisfactory electrochemical performance for LIBs. Herein, a novel asymmetric porous composite separator composed of a relatively dense nanocellulose (CNC) layer and a porous poly(m-phenylene isophthalamide) (PMIA) supporting layer has been fabricated by using a water-induced phase conversion process.

Due to the poor regeneration ability of cartilage tissue, the design and fabrication of permanent hydrogel cartilage scaffolds with mechanical properties matching is still an urgent challenge. In this study, we propose an "inner swelling-outer restraint" strategy to construct Janus hydrogel for pressure-bearing cartilage replacement, which is inspired by the "Lamina-splendens" structure of cartilage. As a proof of concept, the poly(vinyl alcohol)/carboxymethyl cellulose sodium (PVA/CMCNa) layer is designed to capture more fluid by introducing negatively charged aggregates, while the macromolecular conformation of the PVA/MoS layer can be densified through wet annealing, thereby increasing the liquid permeation resistance of the PVA/CMCNa layer.

Nanofluidics-based reverse electrodialysis offers a promising approach for harnessing the osmotic energy that exists between saline and fresh water, thereby providing a sustainable source of power. Nevertheless, the key obstacle to realizing a commercially viable power output stems from inadequate ion permselectivity in nanofluidics. Here, we engineer dual asymmetric MXene-based composite nanofluidics (DA-MXCNs) composed of a negatively charged, porous MXene layer and a positively charged, confined MXene layer, which strategically incorporates asymmetric channel dimensions and opposing charge distributions.

Triboelectric sweat sensors, endowed with the technical advantages of non-invasive ex vivo and in situ detection, have catalyzed the rapid advancement of personalized medicine and precision health management systems. However, the inherently low secretion rate and rapid evaporation of sweat pose significant challenges for its efficient collection and rapid analytical screening. This study leverages laser cutting and aqueous interfacial self-assembly strategies to develop a biomimetic heterogeneous wettability triboelectric material (HWTM).

The development of integrated systems for simultaneous chemical threat detection and decontamination is hindered by inherent sensitivity-efficiency trade-offs. We address this challenge through interfacial engineering of a Janus membrane combining D-A molecule functionalized MOFs with PDMS. A gas-liquid interfacial self-assembly strategy enables the creation of a microporous PDMS top layer for vapor preconcentration and vertically aligned MOF nanochannels (2.
