A rapid and specific liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method with a wide linear range was developed and validated for the simultaneous quantification of Vitamin K1 (VK1) trans- and cis- isomers in human plasma. Bovine serum albumin solution (15%) served as a surrogate matrix for preparing the calibrators to establish the quantitative curves. After liquid-liquid extraction, VK1 trans- and cis- isomers in plasma samples were separated on a ChromCore C30 column (15 cm × 4.

The mouse remains the principal animal model for investigating human diseases due, among other reasons, to its anatomical similarities to humans. Animals used in science and education should be used by competent laboratory animal science (LAS) staff, both for reasons of reproducibility and to safeguard animal welfare. In this article, we propose entrustable professional activities (EPAs) as a structure to support and assess development of competence and valid entrustment decisions of persons working with laboratory animals in practice following, or in combination with, basic training. We propose the creation of a consensus framework and provide concepts that would encourage harmonisation in competence-based development.

Parkinson disease (PD) is the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder globally, trailing only Alzheimer´s disease. It currently affects nearly 3 % of individuals aged 65 and above. The disease is characterized by the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons accompanied by a chronic neuroinflammatory process, which is responsible for both motor symptoms (tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia) and non-motor symptoms (depression, dysphagia, anxiety, constipation, and anosmia).
