Subclinical ketosis (SCK) in periparturient cows is associated with gut microbiota dysbiosis and energy metabolism disorders. Although in vitro studies show that free fatty acids (FFA) and BHB impair polymorphonuclear neutrophil (PMN) functions-potentially causing secondary infections-limited in vivo evidence exists. Astragalus polysaccharides (APS) modulate metabolism, immunity, and gut microbiota, but their effects on PMN functions and gut microbiota in SCK cows remain unclear.

Fundamental research indicates a communication between the gut microbiota and the central nervous system, referred to as the microbiota-gut-brain axis. This link is little characterized in humans in the general population. We prospectively investigated the relationships between the gut microbiota composition of one-year-old children and neurodevelopment parameters at 2 and 3 years of age.

Purpose: Insomnia is a common disorder worldwide. Growing evidence has revealed that the microbiota-gut-brain axis contributes to the regulation of sleep continuity and duration, both directly and indirectly. Although lemborexant is effective in treating insomnia, its effect on the gut microbiota remains unclear.

Background And Aims: Colorectal cancer etiology is multifactorial and influenced by colonic environmental exposures leading to the accumulation of genetic lesions in precancerous polyps. There is growing recognition for a role of the gut microbiome in colorectal cancer progression, but the structure of the gut mucosal microbiome in the early stages of polyp growth is limited. The aim of this study was to characterize the gut mucosal microbiome from patients with low-grade conventional bowel neoplasia compared to symptomatic but polyp-free patients.

Gut microbiota and blood metabolites play crucial roles in the progression and outcomes of COVID-19, but the causal relationships and mechanisms remain unclear. Our aim is to use two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) to explore the causal relationships between gut microbiota, COVID-19 susceptibility, and potential mediating blood metabolites. We utilized summary statistics from the largest genome-wide association studies (GWAS) to date on gut microbiota (n = 18,340), blood metabolites (n = 115,078), and COVID-19 susceptibility (cases n = 60,176 and controls n = 1310,725 from the COVID-19 Host Genetics Initiative meta-analysis).
