Article Abstract

Aggressive behavior in children and adolescents is a frequent complication of numerous psychiatric, developmental, environmental, and medical factors. When present, aggression often is of paramount importance regardless of the underlying disturbances or environmental factors from which it stems. From a clinical standpoint, aggression influences important decisions about emergency service use, hospitalization, pharmacotherapy, and safety for the patient and others. Socially, children with frequent lack of control of their aggressive behaviors experience rejection by peers and exclusion from settings that are part of ordinary development and socialization. The burden on families can be significant and may curtail their opportunities for enjoyable and beneficial activities to the detriment of other children in the household. When the underlying disorders are severe enough to warrant special settings to remediate them (eg, partial hospitalization, specialized educational or recreational settings), aggressive behavior often leads to a child's ineligibility to benefit from them. None of these consequences are conducive to a satisfying childhood or to a gratifying self-image. The risk for long-term maladjustment is high, in many contexts exceeding what the same underlying psychiatric condition would incur without aggression.

Breast cancer continues to present a major clinical hurdle, largely attributable to its aggressive metastatic behavior and the suboptimal efficacy of standard chemotherapeutic regimens. Cisplatin (CDDP) is a representative platinum drug in the treatment of breast cancer, however, its therapeutic application is often constrained by systemic toxicity and the frequent onset of chemoresistance. Here, we introduce a novel charge-adaptive nanoprodrug system, referred to as PP@, engineered to respond to tumor-specific conditions.

Predicting Physical Aggression among Schizophrenia Patients in Rural Communities of Southwestern China.

Alpha Psychiatry

August 2025

The Clinical Hospital of Chengdu Brain Science Institute, MOE Key Lab for Neuroinformation, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, 610036 Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Objective: Physical aggression in schizophrenia patients carries significant societal implications. Previous studies on aggression prediction have primarily focused on hospitalized patients, overlooking specific rural community contexts in China. This study investigated multidimensional predictive factors to develop and validate a predictive model for predicting physical aggression in schizophrenia patients in rural communities in southwestern China.

Although depression can be transmitted across generations, less is known about how this cycle can be interrupted. This study examines whether the multilevel Fast Track intervention (clinicaltrials.gov, NCT01653535) disrupts intergenerational transmission of depression.

Intergenerational transmission of problem behavior: Genetic and environmental pathways.

Dev Psychopathol

September 2025

Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences, Department of Pedagogy and Educational Sciences, University of Groningen, Groningen, the Netherlands.

Despite the growing body of research on the intergenerational transmission of problem behavior, there is a need for more integrative approaches that consider the interplay between genetic and environmental factors. This study uses unique longitudinal data from TRAILS (analytic sample = 2202), a prospective multiple-generation cohort study in the Netherlands to examine whether parents' problem behavior (parents' self-reported lifetime antisocial behavior and substance use, reported at mean age 40 years) predicts offspring problem behavior nearly two decades later (offspring self-reported aggression and delinquency at mean ages 29 and 32 years). In path analyses, independent and relative contributions of genetic (polygenic scores of parents and offspring) and environmental (harsh parenting) pathways were tested.

Objective data-driven insights into pedestrian decisions, comprehensibility, and perceived safety of autonomous vehicles with varied eHMIs: Evidence from a real-world experiment.

In future traffic environments dominated by highly autonomous vehicles (AVs), pedestrians may face challenges in accurately interpreting AV behavior, thereby potentially increasing the risk of pedestrian-AV interactions. External human-machine interfaces (eHMIs) have been proposed to facilitate communication between AVs and pedestrians; however, comprehensive evaluations using objective data from real-world interactions are limited. This study developed a systematic evaluation framework grounded in the ISO 9241-11 standard, integrating four key indicators: decision accuracy, comprehensibility, decision efficiency, and perceived safety.
