Perovskite/organic tandem solar cells (POTSCs) have garnered significant attention due to their potential for achieving high photovoltaic (PV) performance. However, the reported power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) and fill factors (FFs) are still subpar due to the challenges associated with charge extraction in the organic bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) and significant energy losses in the interconnecting layers (ICLs). Here, a quaternary organic BHJ blend is developed to enhance the charge extraction in the organic subcell, contributing to an increased FF of ≥78% under 1 sun illumination and even more under lower illumination intensities. Meanwhile, energy losses in the ICLs are reduced via the incorporation of a self-assembly monolayer (SAM), (4-(3,6-Dimethyl-9H-carbazol-9-yl)butyl)phosphonic acid (Me-4PACz), in organic BHJ to form a MoO/SAM interface and the thorough control of the MoO thickness to suppress parasitic absorption. The resultant POTSCs achieve a remarkable PCE of 25.56% (certified: 24.65%), with a record FF of 83.62%, which is among the highest PCEs of POTSCs and the highest FF of all types of perovskite-based tandem solar cells (TSCs) till now. This work proves the optimization of charge extraction and ICLs are effective strategies to promote the performance of POTSCs to surpass other solution-processed perovskite-based TSCs in the near future.

Controlling spin currents, that is, the flow of spin angular momentum, in small magnetic devices, is the principal objective of spin electronics, a main contender for future energy-efficient information technologies. A pure spin current has never been measured directly because the associated electric stray fields and/or shifts in the non-equilibrium spin-dependent distribution functions are too small for conventional experimental detection methods optimized for charge transport. Here we report that resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) can bridge this gap by measuring the spin current carried by magnons-the quanta of the spin wave excitations of the magnetic order-in the presence of temperature gradients across a magnetic insulator.

Numerous parameters influence the slotting performance of slotted cartridge, to facilitate rapid, efficient, and accurate predictions of the slitting performance, statistical analysis of PMMA blasting experiments with six different slitted cartridge parameters yielded 12 evaluation indicators. Subsequently, a principal component analysis (PCA) method was introduced to reduce the dimensionality of the data associated with these indicators, and three new comprehensive indicators were extracted for a comprehensive assessment of the slotting performance. The PCA scores ranked the influence of the six slotted cartridge parameters on slotting performance as follows: decoupling coefficient, slotting width, slotting angle, slotting tube thickness, slotting tube material, and charge amount.

Ionic liquids (ILs) are a class of organic salts with melting points below 100°C. Owing to their unique chemical and physical properties, they are used as solvents and catalysts in various chemical transformations, progressively replacing common volatile organic solvents (VOCs) in green synthetic applications. However, their intrinsic ionic nature can restrict the use of mass spectrometric techniques to monitor the time progress of a reaction occurring in an IL medium, thus preventing one from following the formation of the reaction products or intercepting the reaction intermediates.

Intermetallic compounds belong to an important class of materials, not only due to the sheer number of compounds known but also due to their application in everyday life. These compounds possess their very own peculiarities, especially when it comes to chemical bonding. To address this point, bonding analyses based on Crystal Orbital Bond Index (COBI) values, Löwdin charges, and - for the first time - oxidation numbers (ON ) were conducted, all extracted from delocalized plane-wave functions.

Simultaneous sensing and quantification of pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs) are crucial for protecting the environment and maintaining long-term ecological sustainability. This study focuses on the bio-based synthesis of BiS-ZnO nanocomposites (BiS-ZnO(bio)) using bio-extract for dual-analyte selective and simultaneous electrochemical monitoring of phenylbutazone (PBZ) and sulfamethoxazole (SMZ) in the environmental matrices. BiS-ZnO(bio) exhibited ZnO(bio) nanostructures embedded on BiS(bio) nanorods with an average rod length of 1409.
