Article Abstract

A thiol-functionalized MOF-808 was produced and used to remove mercury by post-synthetic modification using 6-mercaponicotinic acid (6mna). Parent MOF-808 was impregnated for varied periods in the 6mna solution to create modified MOF-808 materials, known as MOF-808-6mna-x, where x refers to the impregnation time. Diffraction and several spectroscopic techniques were employed to quantify and confirm the coordination of 6mna into MOF-808 framework. The amount of grafted 6man and the ability for adsorption of mercury (Hg) was shown to be linearly associated; the functionalized MOF-808-6mna-36 demonstrated improved Hg(II) removal, with an adsorption capacity of 250 mg/g.

Abnormal levels of trypsin in the human body can lead to various diseases, yet conventional detection methods often lack operational simplicity and real-time readout capabilities. This work presents a state-of-the-art metal organic framework (MOF) nanozyme-integrated liquid crystal (LC) sensor (MHN-LC sensor) and demonstrates the detection of trypsin as a proof of the concept. By rational engineering of the MOF-808 framework with Al and l-histidine coordination, a novel MOF nanozyme (MHis-NE) exhibiting exceptional acetylcholinesterase (AChE)-mimetic activity is successfully prepared.

The strategic modulation of proton transport kinetics and precise control of migration energy barriers in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are essential for developing next-generation proton conductors. Inspired by biological proton channels, this study introduces a dynamic regulation strategy by keto-enol tautomerism to reconcile the intrinsic trade-off between low activation energy (E) and sustained proton mobility. We successfully construct a hierarchical proton conductive system (denoted as FU@MOF-808-SOH) by integrating 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) molecules into sulfonic-functionalized MOF-808 through a two-step post-synthetic modification.

Zirconium-based MOF-808 exhibits limited light absorption, restricting its photocatalytic performance. In this study, a dual-doping strategy involving 4-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) and colloidal dopamine-melanin (Dpa) was employed to synergistically enhance both the adsorption capacity and light absorption of MOF-808 for photocatalytic tetracycline oxidation. The dual-doped PABA/Dpa-MOF-808 (P/D/MOF-808) sample exhibited extended light absorption in the visible light range (350-800 nm) and a significantly larger surface area (∼1150 m/g) than that of pristine MOF-808 (∼728 m/g).

Metal-organic frameworks are an excellent platform for photochemical CO reduction into valuable chemicals. Herein, we report the synthesis and photocatalytic behavior of Ru@MOF-808, a Zr-based MOF, modified with a Ru-polypyridyl complex. The postsynthetic modification was achieved using solvent-assisted incorporation of bipyridine-carboxylate ligands onto the nodes of the MOF-808, followed by the coordination of Ru(II)-terpyridine moiety.

The research on the reuse of resources is crucial for achieving high-value utilization of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In this study, licorice residues were selected to extract fibers by alkaline hydrogen peroxide oxidation because of their high cellulose content and widespread use. The cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin content of obtained fibers were found to be 55 %, 8.
