Due to the significant overlap in symptoms between COVID-19 and other respiratory infections, a multiplex PCR-based platform was developed to simultaneously detect 22 respiratory pathogens. Target sequences were retrieved from the GenBank database and aligned using Clustal Omega 2.1 to identify conserved regions prioritized for primer design.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) has assessed crustacean diseases, such as infections with white spot syndrome virus (WSSV), infectious hypodermal and hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHHNV), decapod iridescent virus 1 (DIV1), and acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND), as listed diseases, and infection with (EHP) as an emerging disease, all of which significantly threaten the shrimp industry. This study developed a quintuplex EvaGreen-based melting curve real-time PCR method for the simultaneous detection of WSSV, IHHNV, DIV1, AHPND-causing (), and EHP. In the specific assay, only the target pathogen demonstrated efficient and detectable amplification, thereby indicating that the method exhibits high specificity.

In many countries, criminal law applies to those who intentionally transmit or expose others to these two dangerous pathogens. Viral infection is a significant characteristic in forensic investigations, and there are few reports on the simultaneous detection of DNA viruses, RNA viruses, and human short tandem repeats (hereafter, "STRs") in forensic laboratories.

Background: The aberrant expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) is closely associated with the onset and progression of many diseases, particularly in malignant tumors, where it usually involves coordinated changes in the expression levels of multiple miRNAs. However, existing miRNA detection techniques still face many technical challenges in achieving multiplex detection within a single tube. Therefore, there remains a critical need to develop multiplex miRNA detection methods with high specificity, simplicity, and sensitivity.
