In this study, silver microspheres (SMS) were introduced into cotton stalk porous-carbon (CSP) to prepare silver microsphere doping porous-carbon (SMS-CSP), and then SMS-CSP was used as the matrix of polyethylene glycol (PEG) to synthesize shape-stable phase change material of PEG/SMS-CSP. It was found that the introduction of SMS into CSP could not only greatly improve the loading capacity of the porous-carbon for PEG, but also could increase the thermal conductivity of PEG/SMS-CSP. Additionally, the method of introducing SMS into porous-carbon had the advantages of environmental protection and simple operation. Moreover, the raw material of cotton stalk is a kind of agricultural waste, which has the merits of wide source, low price and easy to obtain. Furthermore, in the preparation of cotton stalk porous-carbon, with the increase of pyrolysis temperature the thermal conductivity of PEG/SMS-CSP could be enhanced significantly. The mechanism about the enhancement of thermal conductivity was clarified, which could provide more basic theory for the study about the thermal conductivity of shape-stable phase change materials (ss-PCMs) based on porous-carbon.

Aramid films are potential separator candidates for high-safety lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to their inherent flame retardancy and outstanding thermal stability. However, both weak liquid electrolyte wettability and poor mechanical properties of aramid separators for lithium-ion batteries result in low ionic conductivity and unsatisfactory electrochemical performance for LIBs. Herein, a novel asymmetric porous composite separator composed of a relatively dense nanocellulose (CNC) layer and a porous poly(m-phenylene isophthalamide) (PMIA) supporting layer has been fabricated by using a water-induced phase conversion process.

With the exhaustion of fossil fuels, prior phase change materials are characterized by such drawbacks as poor thermal conductivity, weak shape stability, and high costs. Therefore, the preparation of phase change materials with brilliant thermal-insulating properties, high thermal conductivity, and leakage-free properties has emerged as a crucial research focus. Herein, a sericultural mulberry branch-derived (SMB) composite phase change material was prepared by deep eutectic solvent pretreated SMB and vacuum-assisted impregnated paraffin wax with cupric oxide (CuO).

Spiro-OMeTAD has remained the benchmark hole-transporting material (HTM) in state-of-the-art perovskite solar cells, owing to its favorable energy level alignment and excellent interfacial compatibility. However, its practical implementation is critically hindered by the intrinsic instabilities introduced by conventional dopants such as lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) and 4-tert-butylpyridine (tBP). While these dopants enhance electrical conductivity, they concurrently initiate multiple degradation pathways-including ionic migration, radical deactivation, and moisture/thermal-induced morphological failure-thereby compromising device longevity and reproducibility.

This study introduces the HydroTherm-Flow Smart Window (HTF Window), the first groundbreaking integration of thermochromic windows and Fe-Cr redox flow batteries (Fe-Cr RFBs), achieving dual functionalities of dynamic solar modulation-via dual-band (visible + near-infrared, NIR) modulation-and high-efficiency energy storage in a single component. Leveraging tunable hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) hydrogels, it enables ultrafast optical switching and autonomous nighttime opacity, overcoming the slow response and privacy limitations of conventional thermochromic systems. By repurposing the window as a compact electrolyte reservoir, it reduces the RFB spatial footprint while enhancing ionic conductivity by 30% via hydrogel "ion highways," achieving 77% energy efficiency with a 40% reduction in the solar heat gain coefficient.

The LiAlTi(PO) (LATP)-polymer composite solid electrolyte offers environmental stability and safety for high-energy lithium metal batteries (LMBs), yet suffers from interfacial instability and high interfacial resistance. Herein, a Janus self-supporting skeleton (J-SSK) is engineered via multi-scale coupling of poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluorethylene) (PVDF-TrFE), LATP, 2-(3-(6-methyl-4-oxo-1,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-yl) ureido) ethyl methacrylate (UPyMA) monomer, where intermolecular multiple hydrogen bonds reinforce mechanical robustness while the Janus structure isolates LATP from direct Li contact. In situ copolymerizing vinylene carbonate (VC) and UPyMA monomer in J-SSK to construct Janus composite quasi-solid electrolyte (J-CQSE) achieves seamless integration of electrode/electrolyte interfaces and establishes hierarchical coupling across J-SSK, polymer matrix, and lithium salts.
