Article Abstract

Aim: This study was intended to evaluate the amount of apically extruded debris following root canal preparation with three different instrumentation systems.

Materials And Methods: Sixty mandibular incisor teeth were selected and randomly divided into three groups ( = 20/group) according to the instrumentation system used: the ProTaper Next (PTN; Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland), the Twisted File Adaptive (TFA; SybronEndo, Orange, CA, USA), and the WaveOne Gold (WOG; Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland). All apically extruded debris was collected and dried in preweighed glass vials. The mean weight of the apically extruded debris was obtained using a microbalance. The time for root canal preparation was also recorded. The data were analyzed using a one-way analysis of variance.

Results: The mean weights of apically extruded debris were 0.00035 ± 0.00014 g (PTN); 0.00023 ± 0.0001 g (TFA); and 0.00019 ± 0.0001 g (WOG) ( < 0.01). The mean preparation time value was 301,13 ± 62.14 s (PTN); 234.27 ± 34.88 s (TFA); and 239.8 ± 58.6 s (WOG) ( < 0.05).

Conclusions: The PTN system extruded more debris than the TFA and WOG systems. The TFA and WOG systems were faster than the PTN system.

Comparison of Shaping Ability and Apical Debris Extrusion Using 4 Different Nickel-Titanium Single-File Systems.

Int J Biomater

This study compared the shaping ability and apical debris extrusion of four nickel-titanium (Ni-Ti) single-file systems in simulated curved root canals. Forty simulated curved root canals in resin blocks were randomly assigned to four groups ( = 10): Reciproc Blue (RCB), V-Blue, One Plex, and S-ONE. Images of the simulated root canals were captured before and after instrumentation.

Background: The formation of apical debris is a common occurrence during root canal preparation, which may cause postoperative complications like pain and infection. Different file motions-rotary, reciprocating, and adaptive-can influence the extent of debris extrusion.

Materials And Methods: A total of 90 extracted single-rooted teeth were randomly divided into three groups ( = 30) based on the file motion used: Group 1-rotary, Group 2-reciprocating, and Group 3-adaptive motion.

Background: After root canal preparation, apical debris may cause discomfort and delayed healing. Rotary, reciprocating, and adaptive file movements affect debris extrusion.

Materials And Methods: Sixty extracted mandibular premolars with single root canals were randomly divided into three file motion groups (n = 20): Group A (rotary motion using ProTaper Universal files), Group B (reciprocating motion using WaveOne files), and Group C (adaptive motion using TF Adaptive files).

Aim: This research used two distinct pediatric rotary files and traditional manual files for evaluation and contrast of the amount of apically extruded debris during root canal cleaning in deciduous teeth.

Materials And Methods: Thirty maxillary deciduous central incisors that showed no symptoms of resorption were removed and enrolled in the study. Three distinct file systems were used in the preparation of the canals: Group 1: Manual K-files (Uniflex NiTi K-Files), Group 2: Kedo SG Blue files (Kedo Dental, Chennai, India), and Group 3: Pro AF baby gold files (Kids-e-Dental, India).

Background: Minimizing apical debris extrusion may help reduce postoperative pain, flare-ups and enhance the patient's comfort. This study aimed to compare the apical debris extrusion weights of two rotary file systems, Denco Gold and Denco Blue, with those of hand files.

Materials And Methods: In this study, 69 mandibular first molars with a curvature < 10° and two separate root canals and foramen in the mesial root were selected.
